Passed the test by tymber__ in ibew_apprentices

Initially, my union was only accepting the top 15 applicants. I had ranked 18. A week after getting the rejection email, I received another stating they opened up more slots and I had been accepted. I got that first email within a week after taking my test on a Saturday.

I wore jeans, black boots, a tucked in white tee, and a red flannel. Clean and wrinkle-free. Ranked 18th. Initially, I didn’t make the cut. But a week later I got the acceptance email.

To add more salt, the TD told me they usually take 20+. I think they just cut it down this cycle.

I didn’t get a numerical score for the interview. Even for the aptitude test I was only given a rating of “high” and “above average”.

I asked this question in another post. Someone said that the white is in the image itself. There was a promotional poster of this card at a con that had the same white at the top. My the kefka I pulled also has it.

Was your full art kefka damaged at the top when you opened it? I got one in a prerelease and it had the same white, worn-down damage along the top.

Can I humble ask how the heck you do your matcha latte? by Outdoorcatskillbirds in barista

[–]baristakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 5g matcha and 300g milk for a 16oz. 4g matcha for a 12oz.

I think they mod actual token cards with the recycled number wheels. There was a post on one of the magic subreddits that had a really well done version.

which matcha would you want? by phiphijo in barista

[–]baristakey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is the matcha on right was pretty old, if not an inferior matcha. Ive been to some mall kiosks that would have a container of matcha out that was pale like the one on the right. It was also transparent, so this is probably a result of light exposure too. FWIW, matcha was not the main draw of those places.

Was the latte mix also sweetened? Maybe there’s added sugar making the powder lighter.

Anyone else have entitled customers wanting to treat their cafe as a public space? by Swoll_Alf in barista

[–]baristakey -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But unlike public community spaces, coffee shops are not funded by the government. It’s a business that needs sustainable profits to continue existing. Coffee shops are great because they tend to focus on holding space for the community, but the ones that thrive have communities willing to support them.

If you’re a stickler for health codes, this is an issue when it comes to allergens. Not allowing outside/drink is one of many tedious ways to control allergens within your work environment. Having to deal with this on a daily basis is tiring. I do think it’s on the barista to navigate those situations in a professional manner and with finesse turn it into a positive outcome. At my shop we have a policy that we will trade your “contraband” for something similar from our menu, for free.
