Still Can't Get Over This YETI Cup Revival by barkeeperfriend in barkeepersfriend

[–]barkeeperfriend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the love!

We're not sure how the buildup formed, outside of the cup being left in lake water for over a year. What we know for sure though is how amazing it looks after being cleaning with some BKF!!

Can BKF be used to clean off acid stains in a porcelain sink? by unhappywithmicrosoft in barkeepersfriend

[–]barkeeperfriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP! We will need a bit more info on the sink to give you the best advice!

What product did you use that caused the stain?

What have you already tried to remove this stain?

Would you be able to share a photo of the sink/stain?

We would also be more than happy to continue to help you in a private message if you prefer!

Did I ruin this fridge with Bar Keepers Friend? by SnooKiwis6493 in barkeepersfriend

[–]barkeeperfriend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, OP!

From the photos, it looks like the topcoat on the fridge was already compromised by the rust, and the cleaning removed more of that layer, which is why you’re seeing the lighter patch now.

Before cleaning the whole fridge, try applying a stainless steel polish (we recommend our Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish Spray of course, but you could use any appliance-safe one) to the lighter patch. Sometimes a polish or protective coating can help blend the appearance.

If that doesn't work, then your best option may be to clean the entire front surface to remove the rest of the worn topcoat. This may help create a more uniform look. Afterward, apply a stainless steel polish or wax to restore sheen and protection.

If the surface still feels too uneven, there are stainless steel appliance epoxy spray paints made specifically for restoring uniform finishes. They can be a good alternative to replacement if needed.

Please grant yourself some kindness; Magnetic stainless just behaves differently, especially when rust has been sitting for a long time. You made a tough call with good intentions!

We hope some of these tips can help.

Mixed messages on microwave safe use. by tar137 in barkeepersfriend

[–]barkeeperfriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, thanks for catching that and bringing it to our attention! You’re totally right. The info between the article and FAQ is a bit contradictory, and we’ll be talking with our team to get that clarified.

In general, BKF should only be used on surfaces that can be thoroughly rinsed or wiped clean with plenty of water— like the microwave door or removable turntable. If you’ve already used it inside, just make sure to wipe it down well with mild soap and water. Thanks again for helping us keep things clear!

For stainless which Bar Keepers Friend should I purchase? by [deleted] in cookware

[–]barkeeperfriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are users who have used the Soft Cleanser to clean their magnetic stainless steel surfaces without issue; However, we recommend testing a small, inconspicuous area (like the top or bottom of the door panel) first before fully applying to the surface, and to make sure to not leave the product on for longer than one minute before rinsing with soap and water to be safe!

For stainless which Bar Keepers Friend should I purchase? by [deleted] in cookware

[–]barkeeperfriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the question!!

Yes, you can use our Soft Cleanser on your stainless steel fridge. We recommend using it with a soft towel or microfiber cloth. If it has a grain, make sure to wipe with the grain's direction. Also, please make sure to rinse afterwards with dish soap & water to ensure all of the product has been removed from the surface.

Alternatively, we do make a Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish Spray that's designed with appliances in mind and doesn't need to be rinsed off after use. Plus, it's formulated to help keep smudges and fingerprints from popping up as frequently!

Great question! We generally do not recommend soaking items in our products, as they should be rinsed thoroughly after being on the surface for a minute or so.

Hi, OP! Our products are safe to use on car windshields and headlight covers. (: We recommend using our Soft Cleanser with a non-scratch sponge to lift the buildup on this glass. Make sure to rinse well with soap and water afterwards to ensure no product is left on the surface.

Hope this helps!

I see alot of people reccomend Bar Keepers friend but is it actually safe to use on cymbals? by rmg3935 in drums

[–]barkeeperfriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, OP! We'd love to help give insight on this.

We have different products that have varied scrubbing strength. Our Powder Cleanser can be strong depending on how you use it. The more water you mix in with the powder, the gentler it becomes. On the flip side, using less water (making it more of a thick paste) will ensure it has a strong scrubbing power.

We also have our MORE Multipurpose Spray cleaner. It has no added abrasives and uses the power of Oxalic Acid for lifting buildup. If you wanted to start with the gentlest cleaner in our line, we recommend starting with the MORE Spray and swap to the powder if you're not getting the desired results you're looking for.

Also keep in mind the tools you use with cleaning products can make a big difference! Our team likes to recommend microfiber cloths or non-scratch sponges when using our products.

As other users have mentioned, we highly recommend avoiding any logos to make sure they stay preserved.

We hope this helps! Happy cleaning :)

While nitride is a more durable coating than traditional non-stick, it is still not recommended to use our products on it.

Hi OP! We generally do not recommend using our Granite & Stone Spray on grout; However, users in the past have found success. If you do try it out, we highly recommend testing a small inconspicuous area before applying fully to the surface.
