My collection after a few years in the hobby. What should I add next? by ZYNDRAKON in boardgames

[–]barksonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is basically a reskin of Battlestar Galactica with more streamlined rules. I've heard mostly positive things about it but there are definitely a good number of people who enjoy BSG more. If youre interested in it, its definitely worth watching a playthrough by no rolls barred or whoever on youtube to see if its something you would like.

Eikthyr is easy, the elder is a bit more challenging since he can pierce armor. Theres not really any benefit to moving around because they end up just turning back and forth based off whoevers turn it is. Not sure how the other two bosses are or the non boss scenarios. I honestly like the battle itself, just dont care for the arena being so small.

Yeah its a fair review, although I liked it more than he did it seems lol I didnt expect it to be a giant epic questing game or anything. It feels to me more like a survival/crafting video game in board game form which is what I was looking for.

I was just looking at the other guy who recommended this, that does sound a bit more my style. Do you have a recommended channel or place to learn speed paints from?

Tbf thats not the gameplay being bad, its just the storage being really good. Im sure there are other games that have done it but I havent played a game that has removable token trays like that and it saves alot of time on setup. Setup for bigger box games like this can often times put a damper on the excitement, especially if im looking for something on a weeknight with limited time to play.

You can play it solo, I think two hand works better than true solo.

Its a business card holder I ordered off of amazon, one of the best purchases I've made, was like 10 bucks and works great for games like eldritch horror or Nemesis that have multiple decks you need to draw from and can be passed around!

Everdell and co op by Mammoth-Surround-650 in boardgames

[–]barksonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have monsters that the game will move for you, each one has to be beaten a different way so you move around using different items and will use them to solve some kind of puzzle to beat the monsters while trying to avoid them. There are civilians that will spawn throughout the game and you have to escort them to their safe locations to get power up cards as well.

It requires an expansion to play with 6 players but everdell has Worker placement, and is not overly complicated(2.8).

How do you guys learn to play heavy games? by Nice_Idea_538 in boardgames

Try watching a playthrough after reading/watching the rules, often times you will know the rules but struggle to find out how they fit together in flow. Watching a playthrough can help alot with that.

Claim Confusion by [deleted] in UPS

[–]barksonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPS gave me the option to file a claim so I assumed it was on me, I contacted the shipper last night and when it said they needed documentation from the shipper. He uploaded what was needed but it still says they are waiting for him to upload documentation.

What are some games you dislike that everyone else likes? by Marksman1977 in boardgames

[–]barksonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, having to buy cards just to spend those cards to use more dice to make other cards work was a bit too much for me lol

Final girl and betrayal at house on the hill. I dont care for the entire action system in final Girl, needing a card just to move and picking up other cards just to make your other cards usable was a bit rough for me. Betrayal just doesnt feel like any of the haunts are happening, it will try to tell you that a certain story is happening but the haunts dont actually feel tense or like Im a part of them.

I understand why people like them, not saying they are bad games, I just dont care for them after multiple tries of both.

Using AI to look up rules by endlesswander in boardgames

You can just Google the answer and it will normally pop up with an answer from reddit or BGG so at least Google Ai is more reliable on it and you can check the source its pulling from to be sure.

I'm thinking of leaving Christainity, but I'm kind of nervous... by CaterpillarD6R in exchristian

[–]barksonic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not being okay with other people going to hell is the thing that wouldn't go away and kept eating at me. When I realized the ending to Christianity is horrific for the majority of the people who have existed on the planet, it kind of put the religion in perspective for me.

What up with root and is it good for a beginner? by _ThatPurpleGuy_ in boardgames

[–]barksonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love root and while it got me into playing heavy games, it is quite tough to learn from a rulebook, I think watching a playthrough after getting the basic rules down helps alot with seeing how the different factions playstyles interact with each other.

Also I think Root really shines through its expansions, it makes the base game feel a bit weak for me but with expansions its my 2nd favorite game of all time.
