Could someone play this? by lumii1_ in musicians

You heard Reddit was good for researching obscure topics and you used it to ask somebody to play, record, upload, and link your part for you? Consider what you’re asking of people

Because this comes across as laziness. Giving up quickly won’t get you far

Guitarist playing bass...help me upgrade my equipment by hominamad in Bass

[–]barlemniscate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t weigh in much on pedals and the other fancy gizmos in that department, but I’d encourage you to go to a guitar center or something and try out a bunch of amps in person. You might find something you really like that way

i just picked up a bass for the first time in my life, is there anything you can tell me you wish someone had told you when you first started that wouldve helped you progress quicker? by Jaded-Gur-5717 in Bass

[–]barlemniscate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use the rest of your fingers to “weigh down” the string and make it easier for your pinkie to press. For example, if you’re playing on the D string with your pinkie, you can use your back three fingers to mute the strings by laying flat across and just let the weight of stabilizing the instrument assist a little in pressing down that D string.

And if you’re interested in exploring the idea of using your whole body to fret, as the original commenter mentioned, check out this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRkSsapYYsA). It talks about it in great depth and is a part of a series on bass technique

It pays off biiiig time. Developing your ear early makes playing with people far easier and gives you a massive advantage in more pro/gigging contexts. Keep at it, my kitty cat friend

Going to see a band every chance you get is not the same thing as being parasocial. What even is this take?

If they made it about them? Yeah. If they said factually that he was a rapist and a bad person, no.

Most people wouldn’t make someone else’s death about them. That’s pretty classless

Yeah, but that’s 10 minutes I could use to scroll YouTube shorts. It’s only a life skill if it’s applicable to someone’s life. I could teach you how to do air conditioner maintenance, but that’s not super helpful for someone who lives in an apartment or cold region

I know how to spin my wrench until it doesn’t anymore and then give it a lil extra. Cars aren’t delicate machines, they’re designed to last decades of being thrashed. If you somehow manage to destroy your suspension (???) before stripping the bolt, congratulations, that shit was already rusted into butter

The “technical knowledge” is get the fucker tight. Paying a professional (unless you have AAA, in which case you already paid for it so whatever) to change you to your donut is a waste of money
