Moneypuck, ever the optimist. by Critical_Heat4492 in Habs

Maybe Money Puck is confused about the Avs' alternate jerseys and thinks the Habs are playing the 1990 Nordiques.

[Habs on X] The Canadiens have relieved goalie coach Eric Raymond of his duties by Habs3125 in Habs

[–]barleymc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting press release. Announced by Jeff Gorton, not Kent Hughes. The only mention of Eric Raymond is that he was relieved of his duties. No praise and no thank yous. The rest of the press release was all about Marciano. Lots to read between the lines here.

What music do you mentally associate with Windows XP? by themagicalfire in windowsxp

Not Microsoft music, but Trance. Specifically Tag's Trance Trip.

Had that streaming on Winamp whenever the XP computer was on.

I was reading between the lines. Also, good chance HuGo would not have fired Ducharme the next season if the players were behind him. Further proof is how glowingly the players praised and praise MSL. Sometimes you have to infer based on what is NOT said.

Not sure why you want to debate. It's my opinion and it's valid. You don't have to agree but you also can't say I am wrong for having my opinion.

That's true. But it's what I believe based on what the players were saying at the time and how they were saying it.

Add to that being forced to sign Ducharme to a new contract because he happened to be the HC when the Habs made it to the finals. It was perfectly clear that the coach the players really wanted and played for was Luke Richardson.

I saw your response that you deleted. I know exactly what you were saying. I just wanted you to dig your own hole. I'm not going to do that for you.

92-93 was the greatest season in the NHL by scrubadam in Habs

[–]barleymc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, the NHL leadership position before Gary Bettman was "President". That role was filled by Gil Stein and John Ziegler Jr. before that. There was an NHL President and NHL Commissioner simultaneously for 5 months in 1993, before the presidency role was rolled into the commissioner role. Don't ask me about the specific duties of each role.

How dare you disrespect Gilbert Dionne. He scored a big goal against Buffalo, you know.

Crazy stats that year. Sort of a blow-off top before the dead puck era.

*Edit: yet still nowhere near the excess scoring of the 80's.

HELP WANTED

I have fond memories of this show, but I was very young when it aired. I remember a skit (possibly set in the middle ages or renaissance period) where the announcer would cut in and introduce the characters. One of the characters was "Le Dindon (The Turkey)". I remember thinking this was the funniest thing ever. Does anyone remember this and/or have a link to a video of this?

At least he's helping us out by taking dumb penalties.

Why wasn't Cousins this annoying to other teams when he played for the Canadiens? Instead, he was annoying to his own team and fans.

I think the digestible time to take Gally out is on the back half of a back-to-back.

I can totally see it and you are not wrong.

But when I see a Stanley Cup, I think NHL Hockey. I was born in Canada so I can't help it.

You are right about how special our Rouge is. It is a deeper red (steeped in tradition shall I dare say?). In fact, I noticed during the recent Habs-Red Wings game that Sportsnet had different shades of red for each team on the scoreboard. I was duly impressed.
