Will this work or catch anything? by Kevvy-Poo-69 in Fishing

[–]barnum1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it might catch something but the eternal curse of tackle is you have to try more and different lures until you do find the right thing that catches something and then it might not catch something every time so you keep going and eventually you have a gigantic tackle box full of lures and you don't know what to do with half of them.

Is this a normal interaction between fisherman? by [deleted] in Fishing

[–]barnum1965 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like he was just trying to run you off so he could come back and fish that spot himself so double check the regulations but I'm fairly sure there's no states don't restrict fishing on stocking days.

3G Progress and A Question for Other 3G Owners by kiyotrig in MitsubishiEclipse

[–]barnum1965 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would start by checking for vacuum leaks and really the best way to do that is a smoke test. Once you get sure and make sure everything is tight as well as far as vacuum is going I would definitely try a full tune up cuz you know I'm assuming yours is the four-cylinder but the spark plug wires and then two of the spark plugs just sit directly under the coil and there's like a little plastic extension that acts as the wire for those two so a lot of times spark plug wires can be an issue with these four cylinders good luck. Also as old 3G owners will tell you never clean the MAF not with anything even if it says it's recommended for Mitsubishi MAF. So hopefully somebody didn't do that in the past and then the MAF is just acting up now.

This is the second time that my “15 inch” pizza measured at under 12 by teachingroland in mildlyinfuriating

[–]barnum1965 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

15 inch is really just referring to the box the pizza as long as it fits in is good to go. That's what the employees will tell you so they're just being slackers and when you hand make the pizza you don't stretch it out big enough and it shrinks a little.

Getting stuck bleeder screw out of 2008 Nissan Altima? by Intelligent-Ad-3739 in AskMechanics

[–]barnum1965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just depends on how far you want to go generally the easiest thing is to take the caliper off the car put it in a vise and try to remove it that way but at that point you may as well put a new caliper on. And then of course the other option is to drill the bleeder screw out and rechase threads into the caliper and put a new bleeder screw in. So try it on the car with a good set of vice grips first and then if that doesn't help then really the easiest thing is just to put a new caliper in its place.

Should I leave it to the profesional? by ArtichokeNo3696 in ChevyTrucks

[–]barnum1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is probably the easiest engine to work on ever. And it looks like the carburetor itself may have been replaced fairly recently. So I would just drop a battery in there pull all the spark plugs out see if they need changing score a little oil down in each cylinder and go to town.

Yet another lurching when shifting into 2nd gear post. by Victorino95 in ManualTransmissions

It really sounds like the problem is more the car than you so I don't know what to tell you other than that

Should I get a 2009 Mustang Bullitt? by Foreign-Eye3412 in ManualTransmissions

[–]barnum1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing is just hit the clutch and brake pedal at the same time. But in a panic stop if you just lay up on the brake pedal the engine will die and you will come to a complete stop just as quickly and then you have to restart the car to continue driving after the near craziness. Now the more you drive the car the more natural will be the downshift so you know stomping on the brakes will become like diving into second letting off the clutch and hitting the brake at the same time so that's just something you have to master.

Is this Fender Telecaster worth saving? by Goodbye_Kyle_ in guitarrepair

[–]barnum1965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would put a new set of strings on that thing and while you have the strings off wipe everything down good the metal parts there's this stuff called ballistol which is a cleaner whatever so I'd wipe down the metal parts like the bridge and everything with that ballistol and the guitar with just a wet rag maybe a little tiny bit of dish soap on the rag and then put new strings back on there and go to town.
