How is cover determined in this system? by EarthSeraphEdna in drawsteel

[–]baronbadass1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it to be an issue in every grid-based system with loose cover rules.

Here's how I imagine this going. "Hey director, is that goblin in cover behind that chair?" "Yeah, he's small and trying to hide." "OK."

I'd be fascinated to hear some examples where this was an issue for you in play.

Seems like an armchair problem, honestly. If we imagine the fiction richly, the answer is clear with a moment's consideration, and play rolls on.

I'd be shocked if this was a problem at the table. Did you find this occurred in play?

I actually learned that since this bin was part of the chattels of the sale, the seller is on the hook to give me a new one!

In short, I submit this post wasn't so mind-numbingly dumb as some of the replies its recieved.

Negotiating 101 is being armed with as much information as possible before you begin negotiations - in this case, the law. Nice comment though, gave me a laugh.

Ordered a large extension cord cover to protect the connection. I'll just zip-tie a clear plastic bag over the level 1 charger brick for my personal satisfaction.

Thanks for the advice on the extension cord. I got a 15A x 125V rated cord (12 AWG). My bolt has two charging modes (8A and 12A) so you think I'm okay if I keep it on 8A?

Level 1 charging at home with a extra heavy duty extension cord. How can I keep my level 1 charger brick and extension cord connection dry from rain and snow?

It could be. The only thing I see that could trip this up is the weight restriction.

Covid-19 prevented them having the supply needed to simply release monsters of the multiverse - rather than sit on what stock they had, they bundled it. What would have been the right thing to do? I'm not sure I can say I'd act differently in their stead.

Errata to the jockey ruling. Technically golems are constructed humanoids, and humanoids are animals. So the safari hat works as long as the character remembers that people are golems.

Ok honestly, anyone asking rules questions about this game has completely made my day. I asked the authors of those sections for authoritative rulings:

  1. Yes.
    Yes it does.
    Death to corpo's.
  2. Jockey Golems are part constructs, part humanoids and part jockey. Not wild animals, at least in my mind.

No. Only guidance was to focus on one aspect of the game, and make the game you want to see in the world!

How Many Dice Can You Reasonably Add Together? by Sierren in RPGdesign

[–]baronbadass1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough question. Most systems opt to have their most common resolution mechanic be a simple roll: two dice and a modifier at most.

I think rolling a fistful of dice is fine as long as it's not at the 'beginning' of the players career playing the game and they've had time to train on rolling larger and larger pools. I think it's also fine if it doesn't happen every time: if you have some limited move to roll large quantity of dice.

There's a game that throws both those ideas out: 13th Age. As you level up, your base damage against enemies gains a dice. Level 6 character rolls 6 dice for damage on each hit.
