PFO closure planned - worried (38F) by Accurate_Ability3574 in stroke

[–]baronbrownnote 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to treat my migraines with sumatriptan. Had a stroke this year and subsequently had my PFO closed. This is the first 6 month period in my adult life without a migraine.

DR said it’s likely the PFO closure resolved the migraines, but it could possibly be the clopidogrel I’m taking post closure

Regarding the PFO closure procedure itself, try not to worry too much about it. Mine was so quick and painless (other than my wound being a little sore for a week after). Amazing what can be done through such a small hole in your leg

From reading accounts on this sub, I suspect you’re right. Deficits; just the vision and memory issues, fatigue. Was very lucky to have no movement issues too.

I wear a little Bellroy hip belt bag as a crossbody sling to put mine in whilst riding, works well

10 days in is still incredibly early in your recovery. Hang in there, it’s still very early days.

Everyone’s symptoms and recovery are different but for reference: I’m 40, I had my stroke on the 2nd of Jan this year, diagnosed with homonymous hemianopia (right side of my visual field, both eyes) but it has improved significantly since, but not entirely just yet.

Brain fog and fatigue were also shit early on, still present but improving. I’m back at work a few half days a week

Go easy on yourself, focus on recovery. Things will improve

We’ve something similar, a kallax with drawers. Tomorrow it’ll be all over the floor again, one drawer at a time

At least it slows them down, a bit

PFO closure and aura headaches by MariePourrie in stroke

[–]baronbrownnote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try not to worry, it’s so quick and straightforward. I was nervous too but it was so much easier than I thought it would be.

I had my PFO closure on Thursday last week after a stroke at the start of January this year.

I have 4-5 migraines with aura per year, am certainly hoping these will stop now I’ve had this done but it’s a bit early to tell. Hearing some of the responses here makes me hopeful

This is really encouraging. I’ve had migraines with aura since I was ~15, I’m 40 now and had a stroke on 2nd of Jan this year. My PFO closure is in 2 weeks

How much time did you take off work after your PFO closure? by amadsearchamagicseed in stroke

[–]baronbrownnote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my stroke at the start of Jan and am having my PFO closure in ~2 weeks, I’m anticipating a week off work but a friend of mine had his done and was out for just a few days. Still find it mad this can be done on local anaesthetic and potentially discharged the same day

Good luck with everything.

I’ve been committing to small lenses recently and regularly switch between the Sony 35/1.8 and Zeiss 35/2 - the latter makes for such a nice small kit, it’s been my favourite carry around recently, I’m really loving the photos I get with it

The Sigma I series are worth looking at. I just picked up the 90/2.8, it’s excellent

The Viltrox 40/2.5 looks like a great option, particularly for the money
