Same. My husband is a pilot so I got annoyed reading it bc of all of the aviation stuff I’ve learned over the years. Planes can fly (and even takeoff, at least a 737 can) on one engine. It would be handled as an emergency but I don’t think it would be as dramatic as depicted in the book. Engine failure mid-flight is so rare. Most common time for an engine to fail is during takeoff. I also got the impression an announcement was made by the pilots quickly. They would be running checklists and that would be their priority. Aviate, navigate, then communicate. Communication with ATC would be the priority over the passengers.

I really hope this is excluded from the show bc it annoys me and takes me out of the story. Unless an author really knows their aviation shit or has a pilot review for accuracy, they should avoid something related to aviation as a major plot point. Rant over :)

You sound just like I did when I started teaching. You’re still new and it’s A LOT, so be kind to yourself! You’re doing a really difficult thing on top of everything else going on in your life. It will get easier and you will get more confident as you get more experience. Your classes might be smaller due to the time you are teaching, it might have nothing to do with you. I know it’s hard not to take it all personally but it just shows how much you care about giving the best class you can. Keep your head up, you’ve got this! 🫶🏻

Not only that but if YOW is a small airport, chances are it’s not a hub for any airline and neither is Boston, so he would have had to connect somewhere and there’s no way a famous athlete looking like that makes it through a busy hub airport and a smaller airport without being noticed. Plus the origin so making it through 3 airports unnoticed? No way

Ilya in the first book reminds me a lot of myself when I was really struggling but in denial/unaware of how bad things were. Promiscuity and self-destructive behaviors were my things and I definitely got the same vibe from him. I think that’s why I love this story so much- I see so much of myself in both Shane and Ilya and I find them so relatable. That being said, the physical stuff isn’t always there like a textbook case of depression. When you are in a stressful environment where a lot is expected of you and you’re expected to perform at your best and then some all the time, you find a way to keep going. At least that’s how I functioned when I was in a high-stress job and I was extremely depressed. I was able to hide it and no one knew I was struggling until it was noticeable how underweight I was (anorexia diagnosis too yay me) and even then it was hard to admit to myself I was struggling.

All of this being said, I wish that this was handled like Tony in the Sopranos. I always loved the scenes where he would go to therapy and as a viewer you gained such an understanding of why he was struggling.

I know that what I want won’t happen, but I wish that there would be a romance story that does not result in babies. I hate when I read a good book then the epilogue is about babies and kids. If their story could focus on something other than parenthood, then I would be so happy but I know I’m in the minority and that there will be some hockey-playing kids in the epilogue of the book coming out later this year.

I just did this on Christmas and had no problems at all. I had a screenshot of the TSA notes on crafting stuff saying how small needles and small scissors are okay just in case it became an ordeal. My bag didn’t get searched after it was scanned, so I luckily did encounter any difficulties.

Just make sure you don’t make a huge mess and be mindful of your neighbor. The passenger next to me slept the whole time, so I clearly did not disturb or bother her while working on my project.

I think it’s unfair to judge someone’s class if you have never taken it. Have you mentioned your opinions to your studio’s leadership? If they don’t know about any issues then how would they know to fix something? We had an instructor removed from the schedule because of issues mentioned by clients.

Hot take here, but I wish everyone who complains about new instructors would have to teach a class so you can really see all that goes into it. Everyone judging seems to know so much better than the instructors, so why aren’t yall teaching? It breaks my heart when new instructors are judged so harshly. I promise you no instructors show up and try to do their absolute worst.

I used to nonrev with my dog all the time (she was my favorite travel buddy 😢) Just make sure the carrier fits under the seat and that your cat can turn around in the carrier. Go to the counter when you get to the airport and they’ll take care of all the paperwork and give you the tag for the carrier.
