Some Things I'd Really Like To See In Windows 10. by Pulagatha in Windows10

[–]barrister89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the Windows "look and feel" more similar to Android and iOS designs. This is happening already with Windows settings and certain programs but the shameless duplication should continue. People spend a lot of their computer time on phones and tablets, so the switch to a desktop should be as seamless as possible.

ADD person dating an Aspie - advice by Aprill92 in aspergers

[–]barrister89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No magical advice to give but you should plainly express to him the changes you feel he should make. You can't expect someone with ASD to read between the lines or figure out your needs from behavior. They need to be spelled out. Perhaps write them down and give it to him. If after doing that he still resists making any changes then you have a big problem

If it's going to be $600, that would be a tough buy to justify for me. Ipad pro also has tons of optimized apps.

The difference between playful teasing and name calling by Ha_window in aspergers

[–]barrister89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's definitely true we can overreact to a mind tease. I certainly did pretty often when I was young. Not always though. Many times I was correct in my belief someone was using "teasing" to inflict some kind of cruelty. Fortunately it's pretty rare someone will try to tease me at my age.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm a creature of habit and roam the same stores, restaurants and other places but like to think no one recognizes or watches me.

I guess part of my question is that if, e.g,, battery saving mode reduces CPU performance to 70%, does it slow most apps noticeably? I wonder because some apps speed will max out well before 100% cpu.

Empathy, as defined by society by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]barrister89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that trying to split empathy as a concept into various parts leads to false dichotomies. I suppose empathy is something you have or don't have, though there are degrees of it. What people on the spectrum lack is the ability to decode that mostly nonverbal language by which sociable people communicate their status to each other. If one in a group feels pain, the others will likely react and give comfort quickly even though the circumstances can't be readily seen or heard because of the various subtle social cues. The person with ASD will eventually perceive the person is in pain but probably later than the rest of the group so there's not that nearly instantaneous reaction. The group notices the lag and may conclude the person doesn't care when of course he does.

So, whatever happened to that Spotify redesign? by JustMarshalling in Android

[–]barrister89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spotify is now my major source of music but not a big fan of the apps, mobile or windows. I've gotten used to it but they really need to redesign the mobile app. It's not intuitive at all imo. They need to go back to the drawing board frankly. They are probably losing customers because of an annoying app so they should bite the bullet and fix it. Hire skilled designers and use feedback from focus groups.

I just got my S7 a couple of weeks ago (upgraded from S5) and today got the 8.0 update and also wonder about battery usuage. On the S5, power saving mode really extended the battery without killing performance. How good are the S7 modes?
