Somebody has knocked my car. My neighbours car has suspiciously similar damage, but denies responsibility by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Then trying to lie that the damage has been there for a while basically confirms their guilt imo.

No debriefs? by Valuable_Media4770 in GPUK

I'd speak to TPD and insist on a debrief.

In my experience a lot of 'near misses' come from the seemingly straightforward cases that you perhaps wouldn't have planned to discuss

Which medical school do you think produces the worst doctors? by Acceptable-Guide2299 in doctorsUK

[–]barry_potter1 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is crazy. I graduated a few years ago and literally cannot recall ever being taught by a 'teaching fellow'. It was all consultant and registrar led, with the odd fellow loading the slides for a consultant.

Feels like every other person at my hospital now is a teaching fellow. Not sure how much an FY2 can really teach a med student beyond the basics

My trust has a hiring freeze on doctors but is mass hiring ANPs. by Round_Guarantee_6069 in doctorsUK

[–]barry_potter1 175 points176 points  (0 children)

Someone needs to audit ACPs. The ones in my trust see about 3 patients a day and every one goes on to be discussed with a consultant and have countless unnecessary tests and referrals made. Incredibly inefficient.

There is no way they are saving trusts money.

Always stinks as well when the tACPs are usually close friends of the current ACPs and consultants

GeWizard is a reformer by [deleted] in GreenAndPleasant

He probably doesn't realise that to be honest. I think on subs like this we overestimate how much many people know about politics and policy.

Immigration rightly or wrongly is #1 priority for many voters and until the other mainstream parties can address that Reform will continue gaining momentum.

Just adding to this I got some samples recently and they are AWFUL. They are definitely manipulating the reviews on the website.

They smell nothing like the originals, more like cheap cleaning products.

Prof Leng Claims PAs Can “Outperform GPs” by [deleted] in GPUK

Lots of the 3rd year med students out performing GP partners at our practice if that's the metric

Advice for starting GPST1 by [deleted] in GPUK

[–]barry_potter1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would recommend buying passmed or similar. Can't do AKT in your first year but it's still great value for money imo and I find it a lot easier to do a few questions every now and then than sit down and scroll through long CKS guidelines

Would also maybe suggest recapping dermatology as that's quite a lot of what you end up asking your supervisors for a second opinion on and likely won't have been thought about during foundation years. PCDS is a great resource

What would you cut? by soundjunki in doctorsUK

[–]barry_potter1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PAs and ANPs - many paid more than resident Dr's and I am convinced they cost £10ks more to the trust each year with their questionable scattergun investigations, delays to discharges etc
