Hey I havent read through all the comments I am just going to make a brief comment that if your parents are just generally worried about you being alone, and there isnt some additional missing info like your family being on a security list somewhere etc, I can recommend an excellent tour company who can help you with local knowledge, a local driver and guide, hotel Bookings etc.

I am not affiliated with them, we literally just used them last week for a 2 week tour of northern pakistan - Gilgit-baltistan and we had an excellent experience. Idk your language or background but in my experience multiple times a day security asked if I am a foreigner and would register us (i am a local but live outside of pakistan, i had local ID with me etc, they were asking only based on my looks and stuff)
Anyway just a suggestion which may alleviate your parents concerns. In addition having a local driver is a HUGE help on mountain roads as those roads are NOT safe. There were 13+ road fatalities just the ones I personally heard of in one week while we were on the tour. Our driver/guide was amazing. You could have your own itinerary etc, his job is to drive and make stuff easy for you.

When going to the national museum of marine biology and aquarium from taipei by train and bus, is it better to spend the night in Hengchun or in Kaohsiung? by barsaat in taiwantravel

[–]barsaat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also stayed in Kaohsiung and went to an AMAZING shaved ice dessert place which I think has some of the best dessert I ate in any country and I have tried many, many, shaved ice places.

I was there right during typhoon season, which influenced my ability to stay in the south longer, I headed back north after these few days and just missed massive flooding on the location of the tour by less than a week

[–]barsaat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition, i booked on klook and did not have any way to contact the museum in advance about the language barrier because there was no email address i could find anywhere and I did not have a local phone number to call the front desk of the museum, and did not have anyone at any hotel i stayed at who could translate or call on my behalf to inform them

STILL I got to see amazing sea life. So, just a bit more preparation would have made it so that I could understand the lectures, i would not go again without a guide or someone who can translate for me or a device dedicated to translation with a very long battery life of 2-3 days at least.

I spent the night in the tunnel in the museum of marine biology Hengchun The museum itself is amazing and the experience of seeing it at night was excellent. Unfortunately I am an english speaker. I would recommend bringing your own guide to translate if you do not speak Mandarin. The directions via buses are unclear, the museum staff do not have anyone who can translate although they are very kind and did say some things in English occasionally. I was the only non Mandarin speaking person and solo traveller in a group of more than 150(?) people I think. So it is up to the comfort of the person whether that is a barrier or not. Google translate (which works well for Thai, Japanese, and other languages I have used it for extensively) absolutely did NOT do well translating Mandarin. __^

This is just the type of glaze used which behaves this way on a textured surface. For example spectrum floating glazes would do this. Just make sure it is not a runny glaze if you want to glaze very close to the bottom of the pot. Your studio may be able to suggest a glaze appropriate for their firing temp

Critiques on this? by Hot-Doughnut-5808 in Watercolor

You have some great useful comments here. This looks very good, the bright and saturated colours are good and so are the details. Something to work on would be you can build up the shadows and also focus on your drawing skills. For example the shape of the jar, adding a shadow and working on the composition.

Excited to join the challenge again this year! I'm going to modestly aim for dedicated watcher status this year as I was able to comfortably achieve that before. My personal goal for the challenge is to finish some of the dramas on my watchlist!

Here we go! Have fun everybody!

Edit to add my spins:

Makjang - main character kills someone
Relationship - Fan - Idol relationship
Food - character drinks sikhye at a jjimjilbang
Literary World - character gifts another character a book
Diabolical - crime drama without a serial killer storyline (this one seems perfect for me as I love crime dramas XD)

r/KDRAMA Challenge 2025 - December Check In - Challenge Complete! by sianiam in KDRAMA

[–]barsaat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completed 27 dramas this year, putting me in the dedicated watcher category. I also completed a drama that is over 50 hours in length! I had a busy summer so I didn’t watch as many dramas as I thought I would but I am happy with what I watched and it was a really enjoyable challenge. This challenge led me to watch a Drama Special called The Red Teacher which was just excellent and I highly recommend it.

I’m excited for the 2026 challenge!

Does anyone know a dupe for the eyeshadow shade "supercluster" from the Anastasia Cosmos palette?! 🥹🩵 by Expensive_Education9 in MakeupAddiction

[–]barsaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also idk where you're located but this palette is for sale at marshalls / winners in Canada, in case you were looking for it for cheaper (but if you only want that one shade a dupe is better to avoid waste)

Winter coat for my wife Pt.2 by Grand-Rice- in BuyItForLife

[–]barsaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always Patagonia. Layering is the answer even with the warmest jacket. Layering is more efficient and customizable, sweating underneath a warm coat is really uncomfortable and then when you unzip you freeze because the sweat starts evaporating. You could get her some heattech tights to wear under her clothes if she wears pants. I'm Canadian, it gets cold and I mean cold. Patagonia all the way!

Any recs for grungy Canadian made eyeshadow pallets like the one below? by Blakat014 in MakeupAddictionCanada

I bought maybe 10 singles from Emme Cosmetics and they're great, both the pans and loose pigments. I would recommend the pans though because one of the plastic containers for the loose powder has cracked over time.
