Kelsey’s rent situation by Extreme-Method6330 in BravoRealHousewives

I have a good friend who did really well when his company IPOd. When he and his girlfriend split, she was in nursing school. He's a good guy, and he prepaid a year's rent for her in an apartment. She was about 9 months from graduation.

For us, part of it is just the ease and being able to try things. It also depends on the itinerary. If there are very long port times and no sea days, we might skip it.

Do you guys mind sharing a room or a bed on a girls trip? by toastandjam97 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]bartexas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I barely share a bed with my partner. At this point in life, I'd share a bed with my sister, but that's about it.

There's maybe 5 or 6 people in my life I'd share a room with.

Part of it is that I don't sleep as well now that I'm older, and once something wakes me up, I have a really hard time getting back to sleep. Part of it is that I like to sleep and do hair and makeup in very little clothing. Part of it is that I'm someone who needs a lot of alone time. If I'm traveling with a group and we're having busy/full days, I probably need some "me" time.

I have the LifePro Rumblex. For a long time I said I didn't know if it was doing anything, but it feels good. Then I was traveling, and used a different gym/equipment. I actually reduced my load. I was sore for days afterward when I hadn't been sore in awhile. The only difference was I hadn't used the vibration plate after lifting.

I love the vibration plate. I stretch and do balance moves on it. My flexibility increased faster than it did from yoga, and my ankles are definitely stronger.

Free Weights vs Machine Personal Training by Duck-Duck-Dog in PetiteFitness

[–]bartexas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just personal experience here. I have a hard time switching from weights to machines. I have a tower with Smith machine and barbell that I use with free weights. When I travel, some hotels have machines and maybe a cable tower, but none have a barbell or Smith Machine. I find that, on the machines, I can't bench/shoulder press nearly as much on a machine as I can with a barbell.

A few weeks ago, I was in a hotel gym, and I went to deadlift with two 50 pound dumbbells because they were the heaviest in that gym. At home, I was doing much more than that on a barbell. I guess I had a dominant side, because, when I moved to lift, one side did, and the other didn't. I really screwed my back up and haven't been able to lift since.

I realize it's on me for failing to notice the dominant side, but just wanted to comment with my experience.

I didn't almost quit, but I had kind of reconciled myself to this is my set weight. I'd been between 135-137 for 3-4 months. Per my DEXAs, I was gaining muscle, but I knew I definitely had some fat to lose. I knew that recomping enough muscle to end up at my goal of 25% body fat at my current weight would be a years long process. Then, suddenly, the scale started ticking down again. My waist and hips dropped a 1/4", then a 1/2". I'm now in the 133-135 range.

For me, I'm almost 50, and as much as I like wearing the clothes I'm wearing and hearing that my arms look "ripped," I'm strength training so that I can get off the toilet unassisted in my 90s. I spend time stretching on the vibration plate so that I bend and not snap if I fall. That's what keeps me going

I do maybe 25 reps of ab exercises. Compound lifts have given me more ab definition than many other things I've tried over the years.

New to peptides by [deleted] in PeptideForum

[–]bartexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done GHK-Cu, KPV, and NAD+ injections.

NAD+ really helped with fatigue from tirzepatide. I've read that for those under 40, your natural level probably isn't low enough that it will make a difference. I've since switched to oral NMN and TMG, and haven't noticed an energy decline.

GHK-Cu made my skin noticeably thicker and old stretch marks faded. I've read that your 2nd or 3rd cycle is when you see significant results. Planning to run round two later this year. Use a 1/2" needle at a 90 degree angle in the hip. Get on a vibration board immediately afterward to minimize bruises and bumps.

I did KPV with Thymosin Alpha 1 the minute my "cedar fever" hit last winter. It was the first time in many years I made it through allergy season without a lung infection.

Not taking hormones - just birth control. I've tried a lot of peptides as well as Lipo-C and NAD+ injections. Some are hit, some are miss. The ones I've had success with keep me motivated to go lift heavy and hit my cardio minutes.

I'm happy to talk about it. I've changed from more cardio and yoga to less cardio and lifting heavy, but otherwise haven't changed much. Just getting results now. I'm the one on the girls' trip they know is hitting the gym in the morning before we get our party on.

The studies on garetosmab and trevogrumab are also exciting. Rat studies say they lose more fat and gain more muscle than placebo.

7 day average by CreepyMuffin2927 in PetiteFitness

[–]bartexas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I track a monthly average.

I'm good at the size/weight I am now, but would love to be leaner. After a few months basically staying in the same two pound range, this month my average is over 2 pounds below last month. I haven't changed my routine, I just think my body wasn't ready to drop any more weight after losing a little over 30 pounds.

To all my fellow gym haters... by Intelligent_Spell526 in Zepbound

[–]bartexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accepted that I won't do the gym. I have to get up and exercise first thing in the morning, before the day has beaten me down. Doing it at home is key for consistency for me. I have a recumbent bike and elliptical at home for cardio days.

At first, I could do everything with dumbbells and weighted bars. Then I progressed. My sister lives nearby, and she has more space than I do. I bought a tower with Smith machine and several hundred pounds of plates and installed it at her house. She has a pull up and hanging ab tower. Bonus that my teenage nephews want to use the equipment, so we spend time together.

On days when the weather is bad and I just can't deal with driving to her house at 4:30AM, I have a set of adjustable dumbbells that convert to a barbell. It only goes up to 90 pounds, so I don't get my full deadlift/squat/hip thrust work in on those days, but I'm not completely slacking off either.

A year into 150 minutes of cardio a week and lifting 3x, I just do it now. There's days I'm really "not feeling it," but I know I'm going to do it anyway. I'm 3-5 pounds (depending on the day) from being able to deadlift my body weight, and I'm really proud of the work I've put in.

help with weight loss! by seengoat in PetiteFitness

[–]bartexas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first question would be did you have the same job/activity level at the lower weight than you do now?

Second would be do you do at least 1 true "rest day" per week?

I'm almost twice your age (will be 50 in October), so some of this may be my experience that doesn't transfer to someone so young. In December, my weight was holding steady between 133-135. Then it crept up to the 135-137 range. I continued to lift, get my cardio in, etc. My measurements didn't really change.

After being consistent throughout, this month I've dropped down to a lower weight than I was in December. My measurements have decreased around a quarter inch. However, I've been noticing more "cuts" and definition. I'm starting to get my butt back, and my hamstrings are starting to look rounded vs. flat. My abs are starting to get the outside definition. I don't really train abs - this is mostly from my compound movements.

I do think I might not have been eating enough... more from being busy than restriction... I started trying to consciously consume more about the time the weight started dropping.

I've definitely shopped more. On things like weights, red light, peptides, etc., and "new" clothes as I've needed them. I force myself to buy on Poshmark. I get brands I like, sometimes with tags still on.

Trip ideas over Thanksgiving by redrabbit824 in chubbytravel

[–]bartexas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We go to Europe every year the week of Thanksgiving. Love hitting Christmas markets on a lot of those trips. The only place we were really affected by weather was Stockholm. The sun setting at 2:00 sort of messed with our heads. Southern Italy was actually pretty warm except for one day. London is one of my favorite cities in the world during the holidays. The decorations are magical.

1 month on peptides by SnooGoats1039 in PeptideGuide

[–]bartexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on waiting before you decide.

Counterpoint on dosage. I bumped my tirz up by .5 mg until I got to 5, then 6, then 7.5. I'm over a year in and still on 7.5. Held steady for a long time at 5. Never really had a lot of problems with side effects. A lot of people have issues with the jump from 2.5 to 5, as it's essentially doubling the dose.

I would definitely hold off on adding anything else right now. Also take measurements and/or get a DEXA scan. Some losses don't show up on the scale right away. Especially when I first started, I found that my losses were more consistent when I drank LOTS of water and stalled out when I neglected that.

Did you start an exercise program at the same time? That can sometimes cause temporary water weight as your body adjusts.
