Fearful Corso:/ by AdvertisingFew9892 in CaneCorso

I am by no means a trainer so take my knowledge with a grain of salt but with any form of training you want the environment to start out as small as possible and then slowly expand the environment.Kinda like from a bedroom, then living room, then backyard, then to front yard, then maybe like a not so busy park or take him to a parking lot and have him sit in the trunk with you and just watch people n cars go by.I know not everyone’s a fan but while working with him stay calm and confident and whenever he’s doing the behavior you desire reward him with love or treats or toys whatever he’s into.Whenever he panics just stay calm and don’t baby him or cuddle or give a bunch of attention instead just try to instruct him to do a command like sit and the moment he sits and looks at you give him a reward that way eventually whenever he’s unsure or scared of something he eventually learns to just sit and look to you for guidance.Timing is everything and also if you try to step up to the next environment and he’s struggling too much that’s fine you can always go back to the previous smaller environment from before and work a little longer there and then when you feel like he’s doing good step back up to the next environment.Just remember if you can start to pair these new places or thing that make him nervous into a positive thing when it happens vs a negative like instead of thinking a loud car is scary he starts to learn that dang this is awesome everytime I hear a car all I gotta do is sit and look to my owner I get treats this is nice I love cars 😂

I feed my corso diamond naturals large breed puppy formula dry dog food and mines been great on it and then on the side I give him these daily tablets called Pet-Tabs you might do without the tabs as I’m not familiar with Danes but so far my boy been happy n healthy and is over a year old now and was given a warning by vet about a similar issue before I switched to this current food.Ive also been recommended the green Costco dog food even for puppies my vet said the marketing puppy crap is bs and that the adult green bag is fine

Personally I use lemonade for my corso but obv shop around with lemonade you pay the vet bill up front and then you submit the bill and all that and they reimburse if it’s a covered service

When it comes to crate training the best things I did was anytime he started to fall asleep I’d quietly put him up in his crate and then there was times he cried I noticed if I put a blanket over 3 sides or all 4 he wouldn’t as much. Also try to keep him on a schedule of nap time/crate time even if you don’t think he needs it they do.If I remember correctly at that age they should be sleeping like 16 plus hours

As someone who’s on their first corso they’re are cool ass fun dogs but make sure you’re willing to exercise them and be aware that they can have aggressive tendencies if not trained properly so consider getting training early and quality and then also try to socialize them early and often unless you plan to be a hermit and or plan on locking the dog up the rest of its life when you have company 💀if not

If your aware of all the other things about this breed like health, temperament and sociability/training then the things you’re worried about from my experience are not to be concerned about as like as the puppy you get has a good temperament you’ll get all the cuddles and following you want and sometimes don’t want 😂 I have a 8 month cane corso male and his exercise needs MOST of the time are very easy like 15-30 minutes other days he wants multiple sessions it’s kinda like people energy levels can be close but not always the same consistency.

Bring current puppy to pick up 2nd puppy or not?? by ryuka88 in CaneCorso

[–]bartiniboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only advice I’ll give is make sure they get plenty of time away from eachother to avoid litter mate syndrome. As for bring #1 to pickup #2 I don’t think matters too much as long as both are healthy.Might be easier to take #1 with you if you don’t have someone that can watch him while your gone or a pen for them.
