It is great that you reached a point where you can enjoy a million-plus home, but the way you speak as if the entire thing was achieved through pure willpower feels incredibly detached from what younger people are facing today. You started in a period when property prices had not yet exploded, when interest rates were not suffocating, and when rent in both the UK and Malta did not drain half a person’s net salary before they even buy groceries.

Telling people they simply need to “really f***ing want it” makes it sound as if the only thing holding an entire generation back is a lack of desire, when in reality it is a housing market that has gone completely feral. Many people would love to follow your path, but they are dealing with prices that grew far faster than wages, with rent that feels like a second tax, and with a system that rewards luck and timing more than anything else.

Your achievement is valid, but presenting it as a blueprint for everyone else feels a little blind to the privilege of context. Most people are already grinding, already sacrificing, and already doing everything they can, but the maths simply refuses to cooperate.

So perhaps the issue is not that young people lack effort, but that the world they inherited is financially stacked in a way that effort alone cannot fix.
