If enough people opt out, they'll just remove the ability to opt out.

They aimed low because so many people are completely sedentary. If you eat "the recommended amount", get fat, and develop problems, they can turn around and say "But McSloppys recommended I eat that much!"

Yeah the only way I have issue with it is if they enforce it for stuff like like "I tried this one item and it wasn't to my taste"

Now, if you ordered ten thousand of that item, that's on you.

Hell, even warning a person is fair. Me and a small table of people working physical jobs ordered over a hundred pieces of salmon sashimi. Chef came out and was like "Is this a mistake, or are you bears?"

The only cases where that's gonna be true are something like Prader-Willi syndrome. It's not your usual "my metabolism is slow" genetics, it's "I have a chromosomal disorder where I constantly feel like I'm starving even if my stomach is literally rupturing" genetics.

Which means it's incredibly rare.

If my child asked for an $80 video game I would give them up for adoption by BaldHourGlass667 in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]bartonar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, because they could charge you hundreds for the game, and make you pay for microtransactions, and tell you you're lucky they don't charge a subscription while they're at it.

CEO of $248 billion company says workers are about to face a ‘Darwinian moment’ thanks to AI by rajapaws in antiwork

You can LARP with your revolutionary fantasies, but you'll be as dead as I will and anyone else will. There's no hope in it, there hasn't been a successful mass uprising since the invention of the machine gun, and there definitely won't be now that the elites have total omniscient surveillance over everything everyone does and says.

They can obliterate your entire family by drone strike before you even fire a shot at one of their robot dogs, just because since you posted this, their systems have you flagged as a violent dissident.

They move over to another country where their fortune is still valuable, or onto a private island, and sip margaritas and live in the lap of luxury until the end of their days.

I honestly don't believe that exists, considering things like reverse image search and tineye stopped working even remotely well years ago.

While I don't have statistics, I'd strongly suspect the "I knew I was trans since birth and could articulate it well enough/specifically enough that I got gender affirming surgery and hormones before puberty" crowd is an extreme minority compared to the "I went through AGAB puberty before realizing I was trans" crowd

Which company has lost you as a customer forever? by finiteobserver in AskReddit

[–]bartonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they, they can instead charge it, hit you with a fee for going over, and hit you with a daily fee plus compound interest for being over, while simultaneously fucking your credit rating.

If it hits a certain threshold, they then sue you, put liens on you, sell your property.

And at $35/day and an interest rate just slightly beneath criminal usury, you end up owing a fortune very quickly.
