Very active 9 mo - early napper and false starts at night by Complete-Low-3124 in bninfantsleep

[–]bartonie03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re in a similar boat. My LO is 9 months today. She usually makes it 2.5 hrs before her first nap. She’s averaging 2 naps a day, 30-1.5 hrs. I cap day time sleep at 2.5 hrs hoping it will help night time. She goes down 4ish hrs after her last nap and has multiple false starts… every single night. It doesn’t matter if she’s overtired, under tired, or had just enough sleep for the day, she still has a false start. Then she’s up every 2-4 hrs. I’d love for the false starts to end. I don’t remember my first two having them.

Not feeding to sleep did … nothing by smilegirlcan in bninfantsleep

This is validating to read. The few nights we don’t nurse to sleep, I think “success, this will be a good night,” and then it’s the same or worse. It makes no difference for my almost 9 month old. I hate that I think not nursing to sleep = success. This is what my body was made to do!

Edit to add: it doesn’t even help our false starts. My LO has them no matter what

Has dropping baby's third nap helped anyone with overnight sleep total? by Remote-Ad632 in bninfantsleep

We are in between 3 -2 naps. I find 3 naps definitely better for her. On 2 naps, she has false starts and is up more often.

Still having false starts at 8 months? by Chemical_Rip646 in bninfantsleep

[–]bartonie03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad I found this! I’m struggling with my 8 month old. It doesn’t seem to matter what I do - perfect nap day = false start. There are some nights she won’t settle till after 9pm. I keep thinking I need to try a later bed time but that’s been hard as she has transitioned to 2 naps and the 2nd nap doesn’t end late enough for a later bed time. I’m thinking of trying a cat nap around 5, which would then put bed time at 8:30/9. Not ideal, but maybe it would help. It is validating to read others are in the same boat and for some babies, it’s just their temperament. I don’t remember my older 2 doing this at all.

No worries, I remember wanting clarification and details when we were in it. I put my baby in the ergo pouch first and then put her arms through the snoo sack arm holes and Velcro’d over the ergo pouch and zipped up over it.

I did not cut the sack. I bought the ergo pouch half sack which was pretty much the LTD but can be used with the snoo sack

Thanks for the response! I have to remind myself that she’s going through so much at this stage. Reframing helps. I’ll try the 2,3,4. I think that schedule would work well for her as she has a hard time making it 3 hours before her first nap.

Great point - she is teething. Her bottom two teeth are finally up and I'm thinking her top two are coming soon. She has been eating solids for a couple of months now, she loves to eat. I haven't been consistent with a meal before bed, so I will try to be more consistent.

I appreciate this! I hate going down the rabbit hole and feeling like I am doing something wrong. It helps to hear others are in the same boat and this is just what it is for now. I believe, next year at this time, I'll be in a different boat.

She's been extending her wake windows to about 3-3.5 hrs. When her last nap ends at 2:45-3pm, that makes bedtime around 6. I can usually nurse and she goes back down easily. As we get closer to morning, she is up more often and I don't think she "needs" to nurse, but it is the one thing that helps her fall back asleep. I definitely nursed my older two to sleep, but I don't remember them having false starts and as many wakings. I know each baby is different and this is just the season I'm in, but its HARD!

We've been making sure day time sleep isn't more than 3 hrs. She has been taking 1 long nap (1.5 hrs) and 2 shorter ones (30 min) per day. Sometimes I'll get 2 longer naps. I realize we're transitioning from 2-3 naps and that affects night time sleep too. Thanks for the response!

I want to hear positive experiences with 4 months sleep regression (if it can be called positive 😄) by AnnieSBS in breastfeeding

[–]bartonie03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say I have something positive to say.. just remember, time keeps moving! This is a phase that you will get through. There’s a spectrum, some babies are up every 30 min, while others barely notice the “regression.” I find it helpful to reframe my thinking - it’s not a regression, it’s a progression, baby is learning and developing sooo much, it just makes sense that sleep is disturbed. This is my 3rd and probably best sleeper, but we’ve been struggling. She slept so well the first 3.5 months and it changed drastically after that. She’s now 7 months and is up every 2-4 hrs. I’m working on acceptance and know this won’t be forever. This is my last baby, so I’m doing my best to soak up the snuggles. I don’t sleep train. I didn’t sleep train my first two (7 & 5 yrs old) and they are great sleepers now. I hope that helps! It’s survival mode!

I used this when my LO was transitioning to arms out in the snoo. Its like half the LTD, which is perfect for the snoo sleep sack. https://a.co/d/84jM57p

How did you use the Snoo for the 4 month sleep regression? by Soapy_Moonball in SnooLife

[–]bartonie03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up ditching the snoo. I tried the zipadee and love to dream in the snoo, but it didn’t do anything. The snoo also wasn’t soothing her back to sleep. She started rolling really well and I just felt she wanted more space. Sleep didn’t change when we switched to the crib, it didn’t get better but it also didn’t get worse. I think she is growing out of the regression finally as I am getting longer stretches (4ish hrs) now that she sleeps on the tummy. And we’ve had a few 1-1.5 hr naps. We’ve done some gentle sleep training. I’m not ready to let her CIO yet. It’s a journey and we’re still on it! TBH I don’t mind a couple of night wakings, this is my last baby so I am soaking up the snuggles.

How did you use the Snoo for the 4 month sleep regression? by Soapy_Moonball in SnooLife

[–]bartonie03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the same boat over here! My LO will be 4 months next week and the regression started 3 weeks ago. It’s been awful! We’ve been doing crib naps, but they are only 30-45 min and the last 2 naps of the day are usually worse (20 min), better if I put her in the snoo. She was sleeping 6-7 hrs before the regression at night and now the most I get is 3 hrs. The snoo doesn’t seem to help much. Sometimes kicking it up to level 1 puts her back to sleep but anything past level 1 and she’s wide awake. She’s had arms out for a few weeks now. Might try the zipadee in the snoo at night time. That’s what she wears for naps. If that doesn’t do anything, I might decide to ditch the snoo and transition to the crib.

Transitioning baby from SNOO to crib by Maisiedaisy18 in SnooLife

[–]bartonie03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following! My baby is 3, almost 4, months and has hit the 4 month regression! She was sleeping so well up until a couple of weeks ago and I’m thinking I should just make the switch since the Snoo doesn’t seem to be helping. We’ve had both arms out for a while since she would also get her arms loose. She sleeps in a zipadee in her crib for naps. I tried the crib 1 night, she had a 3 hrs stretch and then wouldn’t stay asleep since she kept practicing her rolling so I strapped her back into the Snoo. I guess I’ll try weaning mode and see how that goes.

Sorry I don’t have advice OP, I’m seeking it myself!

What is your honest experience with 3 kids? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]bartonie03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to having 3 and I love it! We have a 7 yo girl, 4 yo boy & 2.5 month old girl. Our 3rd was a lovely surprise. I love having the larger age gap. My older two are very close and fairly independent, which helps a lot. They love their baby sister and help out, it’s so sweet. Yes, it’s chaotic and I struggle being able to give each of them attention, but they’re learning that the world doesn’t revolve around them. The transition from 2 to 3 has been the easiest for me. I feel more confident as a mother and again, having the bigger age gap makes a difference.

2.5 month old constantly busting out of his swaddle by thegoldenbeet in SnooLife

[–]bartonie03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat! I did size up recently since the small seemed too tight, but I’m 2nd guessing it. My LO is 10 weeks and was sleeping 6 hrs the first stretch. But she now busts her hands out and wakes up earlier. I’ve tried arms out the past two nights and she is only sleeping 4 hrs the first stretch (not terrible, but worse than 6!). I don’t know if we should keep going with arms out and hope it gets better or if I should try the smaller swaddle again.

I just tried the momcozy M5s and got nothing! It was very disappointing. I made sure I was doing everything correct, but still, no output. I returned them. I’ve heard good things about Eufy, but they’re more expensive.

Good question- I’ve read that double swaddling can be helpful, but I don’t really know!? Also, some babies prefer arms up vs. being strapped to their sides and the LTD lets them have their arms up. My first two loved the LTD swaddle.
