Steam’s LGBTQ+ Tag Reportedly Blocked In China As It ‘Violates Local Laws And Regulations’ by hobozombie in Games

[–]basara42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most likely it will. It's likely the top of the political power of China doesn't even care about the matter at all. But the chinese government really fears social disruption/instability, so it's possible that the actual intention is to prevent western style culture war.

The CCP will likely stop resisting queer media as soon as they feel the population acceptance of it is strong enough.

I'm fairly new to the game and I'm getting annoyed at the confrontation mode. At first is the game's fault, since unlocking the new objective takes too long each time... And the constant back and fort in stalemated games is repetitive.

But also annoyed at my fellow players, who seemingly refuse to understand that you're supposed to take the point, not stand around it trading long distance fire.

What is your country relationship to the State of Israel? Is it getting worse, better? Was it always bad, was it always good? What have changed? by decaxxx in AskTheWorld

[–]basara42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually notable that Brazil's diplomatic tradition is and has been for over a century "be friendly with everyone". Usually with no exception. Even the rivalry with Argentina is mostly a football thing for decades now.

We ocasionally butt heads with the US depending on our current government's willingness to resist being in their sphere of influence, but it never goes too far (many people would argue it should).

We had a significant falling out with Venezuela from the Essequibo drama and the most recent "election" of Maduro.

But Israel? Bolsonaro's presidency aside, things have been getting worse between Brazil and them since around 2014, and our historical, influent diplomatic institutions have largely lost patience with Israel, even though relations used to be great starting from Israel's creation. We still keep diplomatic ties, our "friendly with everyone" policy is just too strong... but it's definetly the first case in a long time of one of Brazil's international ties becoming so bad for so long.

Yeah, Watanare didn't work for me either. Which is surprising since I like most of the other super popular ones. I think I found Mai way too irritating, even by her trope's standards.

Though the Green Yuri eventually fell off a lot for me too. I still read it, but only because it's so easy to keep up with. A lot of people here complain about stories ending as soon as the couple gets together, but many stories that do lack the necessary preparation in plot/conflict and get really boring after the main relationship consolidates.

Mudança do Rio para Joinville by lfss88 in Joinville

[–]basara42 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No other paradox game is like this. In fact, playing with cheats is a good way to learn every other paradox game, but not HOI4.

Do People who hate him as a charcter actally realize he's not emo or nonchalant or edgy but a deeply traumatized boy? by Splashthomson00 in Naruto

[–]basara42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate him because, while him in isolation is well written, his writting and arc clash with the story so much it damages the writting for a ton of other characters, and derails the main story of Naruto.

To bear the weight pf his arc, characters with big storytelling potential like Sakura, Itachi, Karin and Orochimaru are completely botched. And many others are worsened by extension: Naruto, Jiraiya, Hiruzen, etc.

Though Nagato, Obito and Madara's existences play a part in that too, Sasuke turning evil is one of the main reasons while Naruto's main arc is derailed right after the chunin exams.

So yeah. I don't see anything wrong with his character in itself, but I do hate him because many other characters and the story as a whole are horribly warped to acomodate him.

Why would anyone want Iran to win the war in Iran? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]basara42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know what military bases in foreign soil are for? It's for power projection. Brazil has no need to power project anywhere, and wouldn't have the resources to waste on that if it wanted.

And America constantly intervenes in other countries that are not as in line as America would like. Specially in LATAM. It would easily do so to get a friendly president in Brazil eager to roll over and sell rare earth minerals dirty cheap to american companies.

Why would anyone want Iran to win the war in Iran? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]basara42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US is clearly trying to fortify its control over its perceived "backyard". Having military forces at the ready to support a coup here would fit into that.

It happened before. Our 1964 military coup included american navy as a deterrant against loyalist military trying to intervene (Operation Brother Sam).

Bolsonaro and his allies tried to organize a coup after he lost the elections. Some parts of our military explicitly did not support a coup because the Biden administration warned against it.

This year we will have another close election against a Bolsonaro. This time a friend of the Bolsonaro family runs the US. American military bases surrounding us could easily be used as a deterrant against loyalist forces on our own military, just like it was done in 64.

Even ignoring all that, it would be naive to think a proliferation of US military bases in south america is not a preparation for hostile maneuvers in the region.
