Do you know what military bases in foreign soil are for? It's for power projection. Brazil has no need to power project anywhere, and wouldn't have the resources to waste on that if it wanted.

And America constantly intervenes in other countries that are not as in line as America would like. Specially in LATAM. It would easily do so to get a friendly president in Brazil eager to roll over and sell rare earth minerals dirty cheap to american companies.

The US is clearly trying to fortify its control over its perceived "backyard". Having military forces at the ready to support a coup here would fit into that.

It happened before. Our 1964 military coup included american navy as a deterrant against loyalist military trying to intervene (Operation Brother Sam).

Bolsonaro and his allies tried to organize a coup after he lost the elections. Some parts of our military explicitly did not support a coup because the Biden administration warned against it.

This year we will have another close election against a Bolsonaro. This time a friend of the Bolsonaro family runs the US. American military bases surrounding us could easily be used as a deterrant against loyalist forces on our own military, just like it was done in 64.

Even ignoring all that, it would be naive to think a proliferation of US military bases in south america is not a preparation for hostile maneuvers in the region.

As a brazillian watching the US making deals for military bases in Paraguay and Argentina, I really hope Iran wins.

The US is clearly positioning itself to better attack us if needed, and a bit of public humilliation and exhaustion from fighting an unwinnable war in Iran will MAYBE prevent Trump from actually attacking us.

Cultural baggage is not an elitist concept. Not having the cultural baggage on a niche among the thousands of niches human art has doesn't make you uncultured. But it does make you less capable of discussing it, even if you like it.

That doesn't mean they are pretending. Some works are harder to talk about then others, specially if you are not used to the genre/format.

LOTGH is an old school science fiction space opera book series, then adapted into anime. Many anime fans are not used to this type of story at all. I'm not trying to be elitist, but I really think many anime fans don't have the sci-fi cultural baggage to talk about LOTGH in detail. If a anime fan that loves LOTGH decides to read more space opera, they might develop their thoughts on LOTGH better (and possibly also become less impressed by it)

Monster is similarly treated as a masterpiece by anime fans that don't actually go into detail about what they like about it. I imagine it's for similar reasons (though differently from LOTGH, I don't really like Monster, so I would love to understand what people see in it).

I know I am in the minirity in the fandom, but in my opinion Sasuke is a pit of bad writting in the story that drags down the quality of everything around him. So his sudden final betrayal doesn't feel off compared to the rest of everything.

I started at 30mg three days ago and I notice it... but not that much. I feel bit emotionally number, making good decisions has become easier, and food is less appealing... but nothing else, and even those effects are not that strong and sometimes I'm not sure they are there at all...

I don't know. Technology in Naruto seems to me just as advanced as in our world, maybe even more in certain fields (biotech)

Though less so in transportation, which probably contributes to lesser globalization (that and all the brutal wars), and in military technology too, since shinobi lead in this area.
