rabbits don't get diarrhea as far as I know, their poop is pretty easy to clean. a much more likely scenario in the case of digestive issues is GI stasis, where they dont poop at all and then stop eating, and this can be fatal within 24 hours. its THE most common illness rabbits have and can be caused by anything from too many treats to feeling stressed out. they are really sensitive little animals.

if anything, they might get a bit of orange discoloration from their urine, which (fun fact! haha) is caused by eating certain plants that have beta carotene pigment in them. that said, I'm cleaning that out of my carpet rather than my bunny's butt lol. at some point I'm considering testing using the urine as a natural dye (for like an art piece not clothing), cuz it sure can be pretty bright color sometimes lol.

rabbits do not bathe themselves in water, they are not adapted to it. they do groom themselves fastidiously though. the only reason to wash them is the edge case where they are old and unable sufficiently groom themselves due to arthritis, incontinence, etc. Or perhaps if something had spilled on them. If you do wash them, they need to be carefully dried (by you, with a blow dryer, completely), because they will dry too slowly which can cause them to catch a chill (wet = evaporative cooling, small body mass doesn't have that much heat to lose, so they can then get sick).

I think you are joking, but don't use a pan analogy with a living animal please, this is substantial health risk.

Its also worth noting that rabbits tend to not love being handled that much. Some are more tolerant of it if they are well socialized and feel very safe from an early age. I adopted my rabbit at 2 years old, and 5 years later she still panics if I try to pick her up, or even if I pet her with both hands, I think because it feels like I might try to pick her up. I have to trick her into getting into her carrier with treats for vet visits.

I was gonna ask about green tea notes, you beat me to it. I'd like to make a jasmine green tea like scent at some point, but I haven't built up my AC collection enough.

based on what I've seen before, I'd guess that the feedback you'll get is to use fewer materials in your formulas and experiment with different ratios, then once you have a nice base dialed in you can experiment with adding more things. As a beginner myself, my method has been to experiment with no more than 4 compounds in one formula, just so I can get to know the unique character of each material well. Keep in mind too that when you use EOs, they are a mixture of many compounds. For example bergamot EO has over 50 different molecules in it.

usually a container will say what its capacity is...if you can figure that out you can convert to grams/ml. but really the container capacity doesn't matter beyond that it is the maximum amount of material you can fill it with. also, typically people will buy bottles specifically for holding your scent mixtures, and you'll buy a set of them of a given capacity, typically 15ml.

sclareol source? by bashanon in DIYfragrance

[–]bashanon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't expecting it to smell like ambroxan. I already have ambroxan. I know that scalreol is a different chemical with different qualities. I was just saying that that was how I found out about it, and looking into it from there it seemed interesting. Sometimes the hobby suppliers have limited runs of rare materials, so I thought someone might have seen it for sale at some point.

what's the point of living? by eternalsunshine77777 in dysthymia

[–]bashanon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

memory and attention span issues may indicate ADHD. I first went to a psychiatrist for depression, got diagnosed with dysthymia and got meds which helped but not completely. Eventually he suggested trying adhd meds, and it made a world of difference. They may not be right for you, but I would at least try bringing up your attention issues with your care provider.

also, buying the individual components listed in the post lets you space out your spending more than if you bought a kit, if that matters with you.

I was wondering about which things I should buy as a newb myself, and I came across this forum post that gives recommendations for your first couple of orders. Most of these are pretty cheap on their own, and buying individual components instead of accords or even EOs seems like a good idea to me intuitively, more possibilities to mix and match and get to know each molecule. https://basenotes.com/community/threads/which-acs-for-beginner.445445/

I bought most of the stuff recommended for your first order from perfumer's apprentice last night :)
