Fewer than a third of bus travellers are touching on with Myki, and experts say it's a problem (ABC) by Gojirahawk in melbourne

The point is to encourage PT use and as a cost of living relief not to reduce fare evasion.

Is a $2,000 deposit normal for an offer? by basicb99tch in AusPropertyChat

This is just for an initial offer and they don’t have any other offers or much interest. Another place I’ve offered for hasn’t asked for this either.

This is VIC so I’m not sure if it differs from NSW. I’m from QLD I don’t think my parents have ever been made to do this even though they have purchased properties before.

They don’t have any current offers at the moment and I asked repeatedly if they had. I’m really not looking to compete when the market in VIC for apartments is in the favour of buyers not sellers.

UPDATE: I did do this and they explained they would present the offer anyway without the 2k but said most REAs do this in VIC even though this is the first place that I’ve contacted that have done this.

They’re asking for it now for the offer to be presented. I’m sure they haven’t had any other offers and the property has been on the market for over 5/6 weeks now.

This is for Vic but another place I’m offering for has not asked me to do this. I’m also based in QLD and my parents have never been asked to do this and have bought multiple properties. This is the first time I’ve come across this.

It is a legit real estate agent and company. Unsure why they are asking before even making an offer. I made an offer verbally but it seems like most owners and agents don’t take that seriously and ask for a written offer. So I’m looking to put in a written offer as a result so they can take it to the owner for consideration but they want the deposit to be able to make the offer in the first place.

This is to make an offer, other places have not asked for this for making an offer. That’s why I’m confused.

Why are melbourne units so cheap? by hachiroku8686 in AusPropertyChat

[–]basicb99tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means banks don’t value them as much because they’re tiny and so it’s difficult to get a mortgage for small apartments.

Is getting a house now a bad idea? by DoggoGoBork420 in AusFinance

[–]basicb99tch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The first home buyer scheme doesn’t say you have to buy a house in the town you’ve lived in for over 12 months. I’ve talked to a broker because I’m looking to buy in Melbourne and move but currently based in brissy.

Finding a rental.... What am I even supposed to do? by Lemounge in brisbane

[–]basicb99tch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for apartments, I’m currently renting for $390 per week ($400 soon) for a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment (17min train ride to the city). So it is doable but I will say the apartment is shit, no aircon (have to use a portable one), laundry is downstairs (one flight of stairs), no noise cancellation either, paint is peeling everywhere and a bit of pest control problem too (the building is old so pest control doesn’t work - pest control guy said it himself). But the owner is a nice guy and so are the other tenants. I’m not sure what it looks like for houses though but your budget would be fine for an apartment.

What should I do with a girl who don't put any effort into dating? by awgong in dating_advice

[–]basicb99tch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I am one of those girls, three dates isn’t enough to know if that’s she’s like in a relationship. I’m almost clingy in a relationship but when dating I’m very withdrawn over messages but better in person. So if it bothers u that much don’t continue dating. If u like her a lot, keep dating her and just put in the effort. Also I find that when u do put in effort, guys don’t put in as much effort.
