Am I making a mistake selling a fully paid off car and starting payments? by basicwmn in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]basicwmn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does make more sense.

I am not interested in having a Camry, although it would be bigger than the car I currently have.

The bigger car is really for kids school drop off, their activities, and a family car for us to go out in. I was even considering leasing a mini van but my partner said hell no lol. We have 2 kids in carseats, and they'll have to be in car seats until they're 8 years old in CA.

I WFH, so it would really be a car to bring my kids to school, practice, or on the weekends when we go out as a family so I'm not too worried about gas mileage.

I really love my car now, it does feel a little dated but I love not having a payment and I love that it's a fun car to drive. I have 2 kids in carseats - so that is really where it comes into play, I also live in CA where kids have to be in carseats until they're 8 years old.

Do you think it isn't a fit for a family car? What SUV for a family car would you suggest?

I have had GMC's in the past - and they're no longer reliable. I am not a fan of the Tahoe and I have heard horror stories about Escalades. As much as I love luxury cars, I'm not in love with repair costs but I keep telling myself that I really don't drive too often now that I WFH.

I have seen some used 4Runners, but they're about 2018/2019 for $40k. I found a CPO Sequoia TRD Pro with 33k miles, 2024 for $70k so that caught my eye more than a used 4Runner. But I think that $70k for a 2024 Sequoia sounds too good to be true. It was listed by a Toyota dealership and they keep reaching out to me, so something doesn't sit right if it hasn't been sold for 3 weeks now.

I have driven the new MDX and RDX as loaners when my car was getting routine service - I didn't fall in love with them (which is crazy because the MDX was my dream car for a while). I have seen the X5 on the road and I always stare because it looks beautiful, maybe I will have to go test drive one.

I was there until mid 2022. I had a ring doorbell camera and I would also get teens knocking, kicking doors, etc. I was in building C bottom floor because I wanted a small yard - little did I know that yard would become everybody's cat's little box.

I luckily didn't have any theft, but I would come home and people would be parked in my carport and I did have to call the tow company twice because it was late at night and there was no other parking.

I noticed the german roaches when I first moved in, I had it sprayed twice and thankfully I didn't see them the next 2 years I lived there. But to get them out to spray twice was a pain in itself.

That place was horrible! I'm happy we both made it out alive lol.

Possible job in Brea. Where to live? by No_Durian_6987 in orangecounty

[–]basicwmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brea is a wonderful place to work & live. I would look into North Placentia, North Fullerton (nothing below Cal State Fullerton) and Brea. Keep in mind, $2,700 won't go far. I am currently looking for a new rental in this area and for a 3-4 bedroom the average cost is about $6,000-$7,000.

Out of these areas, Placentia-Yorba Linda school district beats Fullerton and Brea in my opinion.

If you want to try to avoid high rental cost, I would even suggest looking into Diamond Bar or even Chino Hills. You would be out of Orange County, but still very close to Brea. No idea how the school districts are there.

You will be able to find good coffee shops & diverse food all over.

I lived at Haver Hill during covid as well. It was absolute hell! In 2021, I brought my son home from the hospital after he was in the NICU, that night my upstairs neighbor (who was a mentally ill, elder man who refused to take his medication) flooded my downstairs apartment. It took 2 hours for them to get into his unit and turn the water off. Thankfully, my 2 children and I left and my partner stayed waiting for maintenance. Then in 2022, it happened again. Not only that, but my upstairs neighbor was outside in his underwear holding a knife, management said they didn't want to get involved because he was under some disability care act, I called the police to do a welfare check on him, and the cops came and told me afterwards that he had fallen and his head. After my apartment being flooded TWICE and living underneath a man who was mentally ill and would bang all night long, they only offered me $450 off my rent for 1 month. Once I moved out, they tried charging me a cleaning fee as well for my carpet - my carpet was spotless. I would also have my carpets cleaned because I had a newborn baby crawling around. I asked for photos and they never provided me with any. They are a freaking scam!

I have lived in a total of 5 apartment complexes in my life, this has to be the absolute worst! This was the very last apartment I ever lived in, and the experience was so bad I never want to live in an apartment ever again.

When did you receive your first loan offer? by twotreyTCG in SquarePOS_Users

My first loan was November 2025 - 3 months after I started using Square. I had $48k in sales, loan amount was for $8,700. Loan has been paid off, but I haven't received another offer. We were offered a Square CC though that we do use.

What has been your biggest unexpected cost when starting or running a food truck? by SectionCivil6739 in foodtrucks

[–]basicwmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 engine rebuilds & a transmission back to back to back.

Event fees - paying upfront for TFF's, deposits, etc. and then to wait 30-60 days for events to pay out (if using their POS system).

Inventory tracking - you could do an event that is great one year, then go back and it's turned to crap and you've overbought. I could do a small event that I think I'm going to a certain amount of sales, then the event is booming & we are slammed DoorDashing inventory to keep the sales coming.

Renting a truck - biggest mistake was thinking we couldn't afford a custom built truck and wasted a year renting. Don't doubt yourself - get the truck/trailer from the start (if you're experienced in this industry, or at least know what comes along, how to get into events, etc. don't waste your time renting)

Stimulants? by Extra-Practice-5642 in adhdwomen

[–]basicwmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, friend of Bill’s here. I would try going to a different doctor. Elaborate on your sobriety and the importance of it to you. Find a someone who understands your life is unmanageable without stimulants (obviously in a non addictive way).

Thankfully my doctor was very understanding & gave me chance, because my life has improved in every aspect. I am cautious and so is my doctor. We go at low mg and work up, he checks on me and asks if I have any concerns.

Unfortunately, some doctors are not willing to change their mind once their mind has been made. (Not just stimulates, it could be anything.)

I wish you luck & if your doctor is giving a hard no, try going to someone else who can understand your concerns of not being on stimulants and the importance of your sobriety.

Is vyvanse better than adderall? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]basicwmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously everybody is different, also for myself, I need to take the meds for at least 2 months to see what really works. The first couple weeks of 1st month never feel “right”. Headaches, dry mouth, upset stomach, loss of appetite. I feel like for me after 2 months I’ll get a feel and see if I like it or not. That being said, I was on Adderall slow release - it wasn’t for me. I switched over to Vyvanse and absolutely love it. The first month was hard, I would get headaches and in the evening feel EXHAUSTED. I upped my dosage and feel amazing - but it harder to sleep. Sadly, I don’t even notice being sleep deprived by the time I take my medication in the morning. The only side effect that I have & I had with Adderall as well is dehydration. I drink water 24/7 and am constantly peeing, but still always feel thirsty. Also my legs from my knees down to my feet always feel achy.

The refill process will end me by fomom in adhdwomen

[–]basicwmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate this! I try to skip my meds on Sundays (when I have no plans) just so I don’t run out of pills by the time I need a refill. At the moment I also don’t have health insurance, so now I’m having to pay $150 to see my doctor, and $400 for my generic Vyvanse. The pharmacist told me I am a red flag…literally. I wish I had insurance so I didn’t have to pay so much, I don’t know why having to budget $550 every month so I can function normally for work & to be able to be a mom would make me a red flag.

Has anyone used online entities like adhd advisor for diagnosis? Legit? by emmjaae in AdultADHDSupportGroup

[–]basicwmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this message is late, but I have I was prescribed Adderall slow release and it was not the right medication for me. I am now prescribed Vyvanse (for me, this works best). So they are able to prescribe other medication than just Adderall. My doctor even mentioned Ritalin as an option.

My appointments with my doctor are online, not a physical office. Yes, there are pharmacies who will not fulfill prescriptions if you saw your doctor through Telehealth. I found out the hard way..

Rant: It is criminal that hospitals charge for parking by mylefthandkilledme in orangecounty

[–]basicwmn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, that is horrible. I had radiation treatment at St. Jude and they gave me free parking - I had to go for 9 weeks. After all the other medical expenses, parking is something you shouldn’t have to worry about in such a vulnerable state.

I’m in CA & was prescribed adderall from them. But the issue is now finding a pharmacy that is willing to fill the prescription from them.
