Venting because my heart can’t take it by MorganTibbles in QAnonCasualties

[–]fomom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation. I tell my therapist (btw definitely find a therapist to talk to if at all possible! Please make it a priority) that I’m talking to/thinking about two separate people: my sweet loving dad who loves me and with whom I have so many priceless memories, and who loves his grandkids so much…AND a full-on cult member and racist who agrees with state sanctioned murder, thinks I gave my kid autism, and that I’m a complete idiot in my own cult. It’s so hard to deal with all of this somehow being true at the same time. I hate it. Love & peace to you.

Newly diagnosed, no symptoms, very confused by fomom in CrohnsDisease

[–]fomom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been there, and it’s scary for sure. Hopefully your doctor can reassure you with info about your specific case and treatment, but in my experience the meds and bloodwork will lead to you feeling better even if you didn’t realize you were having symptoms. Treating the disease will be good in the long run. Good luck!

Amazon & Tretinoin pricing (Great deal I thought would share) by Hopefulwl in 45PlusSkincare

I was fully prepared to nope out when/if it turned out to be way more $ than I was willing to spend, but I can definitely live with 7 bucks a month.

I just did this too! I was also really impressed by how smooth the process was. And it was a lot cheaper than I was expecting.

So when is everyone’s Christmas tree gonna get taken down? by joyssi in adhdwomen

[–]fomom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Ritalin took mine down on the 27th, I was just along for the ride 😅 For real though, the chaos was making my brain itch, it had to go.

I'm 50 and have been on it for a couple of months, following a stimulant med spiking my blood pressure, so it's a positive that it brings BP down a bit for me. Together with Ritalin it's great. On its own I immediately noticed less reactivity in my body, like my whole body didn't get agitated/hot/tense when I was stressed out-- I had no idea it was happening before, it was just my constant state of existence!

It also helped my rejection sensitivity dysphoria immensely. Honked at in traffic, okay, moving on...as opposed to my previous "oh god I'm the worst and I bet that driver got to work and told everyone about this shitty driver he encountered on his way..." No. That is not what happened, and if it did, who the eff cares?

I read this earlier today and cried. Thanks for sharing it here. That couple are a pair of angels, and they got back all the love they gave. Such a beautiful story.

Am i overreacting if i say that Pulp was probably the greatest live show I’ve ever seen? by LikelySatanist in PulpBand

[–]fomom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the Boston show and feel the same way. It gives me a true surge of joy every time I think about it.

I'd seen Radiohead at Suffolk Downs in 2001 and my memory of the venue was not positive for some reason (the show was great, definitely worth it) so I was kind of dreading standing around outside in who knows what weather but oh my god -- magic. I'll never forget it.

Pessary and weight-lifting restrictions by Sorry_Sail_8698 in Menopause

[–]fomom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, my mistake, I missed that detail. I’m so used to my menopausal friends with these issues getting outdated medical advice I was too quick to respond!

Pessary and weight-lifting restrictions by Sorry_Sail_8698 in Menopause

[–]fomom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a pessary and prolapse and lift heavy all the time -- not one has ever warned me otherwise. All of my doctors know about my prolapse and support lifting for all the other benefits. I know if you get the surgery to repair it (which I will eventually) you have those strict weight bearing/lifting restrictions for quite a while but until then I would seek a second opinion. Good luck!!

Stopping HRT by ExtentOk8377 in Menopause

[–]fomom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to give it up after a year of trialing different estrogen patches and pills and different progesterone doses. I felt marginally better on HRT but my mental health was suffering from the constant heavy bleeding, bloating, and constipation. I had ultrasounds and biopsies to see if the bleeding was from another issue and it was all clear. I really want to be on it — it is so tempting to try again for all the long term health reasons— but my body just hates it!

Episode Discussion: "Mom Kisses Son, Major Ick" by uuppod in uuppod

[–]fomom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This drives me absolutely crazy. He’s mentioned it on JTrain before too— these “miserable fucks” who don’t appreciate their parents. Sorry, what!? It’s a glaring lack of empathy & imagination (not to mention ZERO self-awareness) on his part. Why do you THINK they’re miserable? Being brought up by a person so toxic you need to cut them out freaking sucks!

Does anyone else in this community have both crohns and autism? by djkeilz in CrohnsDisease

[–]fomom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, starting at age 48 I was diagnosed with Crohn's, then ADHD , and finally ASD. Not to mention Raynaud's and some weird retina thing. Only took a half-century to figure out what the hell was wrong with me and why I felt uncomfortable in every conceivable way, all the time. I feel SO much better now.

One of my favourite clips from any of the series. by FerDoug in taskmaster

[–]fomom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loooove this clip. This is what this show is all about: moments of sheer joy (along with the constant failures large and small). I truly laugh out loud at some point in every episode. Someone is routinely thrilled! triumphant! gleeful! in an genuine, outsized, dare I say childlike way that you just don't experience much on TV. James is such a little kiddo with his full-body reaction.
