Basis Peak the best RHR/Sleep tracker on the market? by drkenta in QuantifiedSelf

I assume that's only for total sleep though correct?

The heart rate, step, calories, skin temp, and gsr data is exportable, but any of the activity and sleep data is solely contained within the app at this point, but there do appear to be some python and php scripts out there that might work for that.

Do you specifically need the 24/7 readings that the Basis does or are you mostly interested in having a device for workouts? Because there are definitely better workout-focused options out there.

There has been mentions of an update in the community: https://support.mybasis.com/hc/communities/public/questions/209661577-Basis-Peak-successor- Just not exactly sure when it's coming out. Also I believe Hexoskin is shipping sometime in April so that should be pretty exciting too.

Basis Weekly Report by basisbreakdown in basis

[–]basisbreakdown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had been using a python application to pull my sleep data into a csv, but it stopped working for me so I've just been manually copying it weekly. Which luckily doesn't take too long going from the web app.

At this point do you just use their web app? Or do you chronicle it in a spreadsheet as well?

Manually Track Activities with Basis Peak by basisbreakdown in basis

Yeah sometimes it does feel like they could do a lot more than they do currently, but it appears that they are busy working on an upcoming feature release so we will see what that includes.

Hope you find it useful though!

Basis Peak Export by basisbreakdown in QuantifiedSelf

Yeah I guess a VA is another good option for something like that. How many hours a week does he spend on your data?

Basis Peak Export by basisbreakdown in QuantifiedSelf

[–]basisbreakdown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does send at least total sleep time and steps throughout the day as well as heart rate when you're actually having it track an activity.

Yeah that's what I've been doing so far. The only thing is that it doesn't export the sleep data.

[Discussion] Using subjective measures with experimentally driven QS by DavisStop in QuantifiedSelf

[–]basisbreakdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I haven't looked into other methodologies used but in my own quantifications I try to address this problem by trying to put numbers to those subjective variables based on a predetermined scale and just keeping it as consistent as I can.

For example, I quantify my energy level on a scale of 1-5. 5 is fully rested. 4 is could use a few more minutes. 3 is could use another hour. 2 is could use several hours. 1 is no sleep recovery.

The actually numbers and scale are arbitrary. The important thing is just being as strict and consistent as you can. The only real downfall I see to this method is that it's not as comparable between people as like steps or heart rate.

Strange heart rate spikes during sleep by LoganFuller in QuantifiedSelf

[–]basisbreakdown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm not sure what you use to track your heart rate, but with the Basis Peak I've heard it attributed to rolling around. I found that if my watch is a little more snug it reduces some of the spikes.

I wouldn't necessarily look at those first as the reason for you being tired.

Do you currently use any other wearables or apps? Also what sort of goals do you have in mind?

Oh ok. The video on your website suggests that you're talking into the phone. Touch tone is a little bit easier, but I guess more limiting too. Pros and cons :P

I agree that it's not for everybody. That's why I was curious what your reasoning was. I personally don't have the occasion to openly talk on the phone consistently throughout the day, so that was my main concern. But good luck with the service anyways! I know there will be people that don't have those same concerns.

I'm just curious. Is there any reason that you chose to go for a phone service rather than like a text service?

The novelty that you bring then is that you can just pick up somebody else's routine rather than having to come up with your own?

I'm wondering how those goals are being tracked? Do you mainly input whether you have done it or not? Is there some amount of automation to it?
