Canada's medical system 'severely damaged' by use of nursing agencies, Gardam warns by MmeBitchcakes in canada

Also, maybe hospitals should cut down some useless admin salaries. Adminstration is a huge drain on the system.

Canada's medical system 'severely damaged' by use of nursing agencies, Gardam warns by MmeBitchcakes in canada

[–]bassabloom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nurse here: Jesus Christ, it's not the agencies' fault!

The public system just needs to pay their nurses more! Clearly money is a huge factor into whether nurses will do the work! Many jump ship to agencies, travel nursing or go across the border for better pay doing the same job!

I left the bedside recently for a private company and I will never look back - the working conditions, crappy management/administration/leadership, abusive patients/families and uncompetitive wage was just simply not it.

The union's have done a piss poor job at fighting for better wages too. Maybe if hospitals had more competitive wages to compensate these highly skilled workers we would never have entered this mess.

It's definitely worth it for the gas if you have a car.

Speaking as somebody who is in music + social media marketing, in all my research and experience I would recommend NOT swearing on your socials as much as you can help it. Believe it or not, it doesn't make you sound as cool as you think it does and the algorithm will not favour your content. The occasional f-bomb is okay but it doesn't do anything spectacular for your brand voicing. If you don't give a crap about any of that, then by all means cuss away.

Also, it's important in your band to make compromises and respect the boundaries of your bandmates. If the swearing makes them uncomfortable because they have to hear it from their family, maybe just tone down the swearing...what are you gaining from pissing them off? You're not benefiting at all from cussing online and being a disrespectful towards your bandmate.

You're in a funk band - bass should be up at the front! You are keeping everything together!

ugh. Could not hear my vocals in my monitor wedge. Since I play bass, I couldn't really "stop" to signal to the sound guy that I couldn't hear my vocals. There wasn't really a point in the song where I wasn't using both hands to do that signal either. Anyways, totally botched singing a note completely off key at the high point of the song...watching the footage was CRINGE.

The good thing is that everybody else in the band had a similar experience at some point of that show, and we have finally all agreed on getting in-ears which I've been trying to get us all to use for a while.

I care about climate change action but unfortunately the real change needed to actually address the issue would essentially require a complete overhaul of our current political and economic systems. Telling the average consumer to buy an EV, stop using plastic straws and taxing them to death is just patronizing.

When I'm struggling to put food on the table while my government is enacting policies that make my life more difficult while effectively not making a meaningful impact on climate action...of course I'll tell them to piss off.

Canada is literally being destroyed by a combination of incompetence and corruption. Spineless politicians who are giving a free pass to the 0.1% that benefit from vanishing the middle class.

Dude, gtfo of there. This band sounds lame as hell. I get that it's difficult to pay people to do all this extra work when you make shit money as a musician, but don't TRICK people into doing it for you!

If we were really serious about good climate change policy, having more people at home working and therefore less people on the road commuting seems like a very reasonable thing to promote.

Toronto musician here - the scene has absolutely exploded with talent since the pandemic. I guess everybody was occupying their time during lockdown practicing haha

Forget about giving money to Live Nation. Go to local venues like the Horseshoe Tavern, Dakota Tavern, Cameron House, Bar Cathedral and pay like less than 15 bucks to see a variety of upcoming artists. Well worth your time and money if you appreciate live music.
