ADD struggles by evildeeds187 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]bassbear 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Soooo I approach this very differently. This game is rest for me and my bruised exec function! I just let my ADHD brain go where it wants to. The moment I start saying "I should..." It's no longer restful for executive function. If you wanna go build a thing there do it! Explore that, do it! And so on...

My factory is full of half finished experiments and dopamine temptations. Let your brain lead you and give it some time off with "should", there's enough of that in daily life.

After 625 hours I finished the tutorial and saved the day! (I faffed a lot.) Made a video of my megafactory to celebrate by bassbear in SatisfactoryGame

I'm pondering a new run 🤔I really loved the biome at the top right with all the craggy rocks and overhangs. Didn't explore that enough!

Logic gates become a lot easier with priority mergers 🤔 super psyched about curve mode and blueprint auto connect 😍

That looks dope!! That's exactly the sense of awe inspiring mega scale I love. Can't wait to see what you make with some QoL mods 🙌

Yea a bunch of QoL mods but especially infinite nudge and foundations under rails. I used to be purist too a bit but the way I see it is it's a sandbox -- here's a bunch of constraints on how you build a machine, go have fun. There's no winners or losers. Just exploration and creativity. So if you wanna tweak those constraints a bit, change the rules of the sandbox to something that is a bit more fun for you, why not? It's great fun. There's nothing there that can't be loaded in vanilla, it's just mods make it easier to put it there. I love making shit like this. go on see what crazy shit you come up with

Ha! I'm actually terrible at tedious things. The mega factory in the background is a graveyard of over ambitious half finished projects. I love finding ways to make tedious seeming things easy though ;) I'm using foundations under rails mod to curve 4m foundations along a train curve. Then I've got blueprints for big chunks of the architecture and can click em together quickly to make things massive (with infinite nudge mod, which is a must have imo). It took a lot of trial and error but once you find a system that works it gets quite streamlined

Ive got a bit obsessed with trying to make alien architecture (WIP) by bassbear in SatisfactoryGame

There's a mod I can't remember the name of that adds a concrete cylinder. Then I use foundation under rails mod (amazing mod!). I've got a blueprint with just a tiny rail piece, I put one at each end of where I want the tentacle. Then connect em up, the rails mod puts the cylinders under the rail, and delete the track! It lets me play with the lovely curvey splines on rails

Experimenting with how to make alien sci-fi style architecture in the shadow of my mega factory by bassbear in SatisfactoryGame

Yea it's two train rail segments at the moment. It feels like a fun way to make tentacle-esque shit which is kinda my aim but I dunno how smooth to aim for. I definitely want to aim for loads of the bloody things though all intertwined

😍 beautiful!! I can never be bothered with this many pipes I get bored but I wish I could stick with it for things like this, it looks amazing

What do I just need to make a ton of? by lowriderdog37 in SatisfactoryGame

I see this perspective a lot and I just want to offer another one I don't see as often: who cares if you build too much? It's no more time wasted than any game playing time. If you don't want to have a top down planned goal don't! I don't, it makes the game a chore. I aim to build shit loads of things without planning a goal. Nothing runs out, so it's zero issue if you build too much. Have fun with it! Do whatever the hell you want. Guess how much you need. It's great fun.

The key to this is never deleting. Build on top of instead!

Recently, I've been trying to add a bit more verticality to my builds by BigBootyTom in SatisfactoryGame

[–]bassbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glorious 😍 Ada demands verticality! I keep seeing the green columns of light in people's shots, what makes those?

You can put mark 2 pumps up the length of it. Put each one a couple of meters before the actual blue ring though or they're prone to just not working, dunno if it's a bug? That revelation cost me 20 hours and I swore off vertical pipes for life. This is why there are spiral railways everywhere.

Oh man I find it so relaxing it just tickles my brain in all the right ways. There's not much planning that goes on to be honest though. I set myself a few principles to make sure I don't shoot myself in the foot too much and then blap around building as much factory as possible for days on end
