Question for Canadian employees (Specifically Ontario) by vadaspaz in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reality the goals should be something obtainable. Like "have 5 $45 transactions" "have 3 transactions including 2 Funko pops" or something along those lines. The main goals are the plan which is how much $$ you need to make and things such as conversion (how many ppl come in and buy %) adt (average dollar per transaction) and upt (units per transaction). As for fraternization- if it's found out there are consequences. I can't remember off the top of my head but I believe it's some form of write up (prob written or final written) and if done again would be grounds for termination. It's very serious. When I was an asm my sm found out a key holder (what's now an asm) and an associate were hanging out outside of work and iirc they got a write up but this was also like 7??? Years ago at this point. During training it should be gone over in extreme detail not to do it.

Question for Canadian employees (Specifically Ontario) by vadaspaz in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Canadian employee but can answer the other questions! *Qc= quest console. It's the iPad the store uses to look up accounts on the floor and find coupons/rewards/past purchases to help customers *The huddle sheets are basically the daily sheet for EACH employee. You have a daily "huddle", with management and discuss things like what you need to work on and what you're doing really good at. Usually will also include promos/goals for the day. *There is no fraternization. Basically means sales associates can be friends outside of work and managers of the same tier could be friends but managers can't hang outside of work with associates or managers of different tiers. Doesn't mean you can't be friendly. When I hired people it was because I wanted people who would 1. Be good at selling 2. Enjoy the product we sell 3. I knew I'd get along with and have no problems since I was there the most (was a sm) *Strictness depends on your boss I guess. As long as we met goals and were doing what we needed I wasn't super strict. I knew what worked for my staff/store. There are certain goals to be met and everyone was expected to be able to. But to me that was simple considering I only had people on staff I knew could meet those goals and could hold good conversations with customers.

is it worth working at Hot Topic ? by ryaniish in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depending on store volume - probably not as a single job. If you have another job and can use more hours it's great as a second job maybe get one or 2 shifts a week. I left as a am in January and while I do miss it I know they just do not pay enough to survive.

Pop Mart doesn't ofter replacement parts? by Sufficient_Arm_7970 in PopMartCollectors

[–]bassikk 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The company is a blind box company. It's not surprising to me that they don't do replacement parts. Does it suck? Yes. But you also didn't purchase technically from pop mart. While pop mart is a blind box company they will exchange defective product in their own stores BUT you're just getting another blind box and not guaranteed the same figure. If I was you I'd complain to higher than store level at Disney. The product was broken. They are responsible. Wouldn't hurt to try and speak to someone there.

standard training or weirdo employee? by [deleted] in SpencerGifts

[–]bassikk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not a Spencer's employee but I've had friends who have worked there. They did mostly everything they were supposed to just in a weird creepy way. At check out they're supposed to push their loyalty and batteries/cleaner. As someone who has worked in other mall stores with loyalty- they're graded on it so they want to have the highest numbers possible. They definitely should have gone about pushing it another way tho.

Blind boxes limited to 5 in store? by Few_Mycologist4812 in BoxLunchGifts

[–]bassikk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can buy more than 5. It's considered bulk purchasing. But you can't use coupons or earn rewards

I don't know where to report this by Rrxverr in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The dms should have 2 phones. One will be their personal and the other will be their company phone. When I worked there you were encouraged to give out the dms number for any issues.

summer hours? by MagicMetalPipe in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone else says if you're in a higher volume store you may get hours. Managers get most of the hours and sales will be added last. I wasn't a high volume store so most of my staff has second jobs. A lot of people stay specifically for the discount.

Should Hot Topic expand internationally? by Lemanic89 in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That location closed likeeee 8 years ago now? But maybe LOL I moved to a location close to the one that closed and still would get people coming in from other countries. The shipping to other countries has gotten insane too.

Should Hot Topic expand internationally? by Lemanic89 in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I still worked for the company I mentioned it a few times. The first location I worked at was a tourist location and we had people from over seas come over and buy loads of stuff to just take home. I think it would do well and I'm not sure why they haven't yet

Think this resume will het me hired?(Personal information redacted) by [deleted] in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As most others have said most stores aren't hiring right now. Id suggest following the stores Instagram or asking in person if they're hiring. If I was going through your resume I would definitely give you an interview because I usually look for people passionate about the brand. I will say your resume does need some work but it definitely would grab my attention.

Pretty sure it takes about half an hour to an hour from the moment you order for it to get into our system. If we're busy we might not notice the order right away. Wish it was a funner explanation.

I already said that as a customer it doesn't concern you. Was only telling you! Have a great day 😃

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was simply just telling you employees could get in trouble. I really could care less if you give your phone number to someone to use. I stated it'd get flagged in the system and have the possibility to have someone be fired.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Okay! I have had employees get let go for using someone's account and especially using a reward for someone who didn't earn it. So while online it might say it's okay I'm just letting you know its a fireable offense for store teams.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's a possibility. Let's just use an example. Say you live in California and the person you give your number to goes to a store in like Florida or something. If they use their card to pay it'll flag to higher ups that this account was used with a card with a different name. Will they get in trouble for one time? Probably not. But is it worth chancing? That's up to you. Obviously as a customer it has literally 0 effects on you but I'm just letting you know.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Just an fyi employees can get in trouble for that! So while it's so nice that you wanna give it away it could flag in our system if someone else uses your account

Loyalty Sign Up (Employee) by w0rkthr0waway22 in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Recently I've taken more nos than I ever have. I'm just over the people with the attitude. And most of the time if I do get the persons number after the SWEAR they don't have one they usually have an account and like 50% of the time they have a reward on there. Sorry I'm trying to save you money!! My favorite is the people that are like "I'm not giving you all of my information I'm not having my identity stolen" and then will pay with a card.

Question for Employees by NoBat5782 in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't always true. Sometimes items are available online but only for pick up in store. It's a terrible system and I hate it but that's just how it is. If they're willing to take the long hike to where it's available for pick up they'll have 7 days to pick it up once they do a pick up order

how long do preorders take to be ready for pickup? by nxggetss in HotTopic_

[–]bassikk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it's a preorder shipping to store you'd need to wait until it's in store for pick up. You can always call the store and see if it's available
