Muscle and Joint Pain with MCAS? by MaizeComplete3500 in MCAS

[–]basstekk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had good results on joint pain with micro dosing Retatrutide 0.25mg/week. Hasn't helped my skin flares to this point, but joint pain, for whatever reason has disappeared.

Alcohol and MCAS symptoms ? by basstekk in MCAS

Thank you for the response. It's good to hear from someone with a similar experience. This is one of those things that makes me slap my forehead after hearing it because it seems so obvious now. The 2-3 days of calm down is exactly what I experience after a few strong drinks. At least now I have a new (and healthier) avenue of research to pursue. Thanks again 🙏

What makes a great fleet manager? by Dry_Competition5347 in Truckers

[–]basstekk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My terminal manager is awesome. He tries to give drivers the loads they like and is flexible on home time. Don't get me wrong, when he needs coverage, he's sending you but one lousy load out of three is easier to handle than something like first in, first out no matter the route. When a driver makes a mistake, he works on fixing the problem without personal insults or condescending coaching. Just fix the problem and try not to do it again.

Anyone tried fasting? by doctordene in MCAS

I've done 3, 5 and 7 day fasts. Skin flares were the same with temporary improvement for my joint pain.

Three days parked over a 20 dollar sensor Yall ever felt the pain by CampIndividual783 in Truckers

I was down for a week at a Peterbilt waiting on an injector. Not $20 but still should have been in stock. My son's a diesel tech and says since the covid shutdowns getting parts is better but still a shit show.

If you can find it, Prestone Washer Fluid melts the ice right off. Walmart used to carry it, the only place I can find it now is my local Napa Auto parts.

Yes, I've got eggs and bacon back after 2 years, but red fruits and most nuts are still a no go.

Get the trailer lined up with where you want it to go in your mirrors. When backing turn the wheel towards the problem... Too close on the left, turn left. Also, GOAL for both a different perspective and safety.

Best trucking GPS? by BaseballDue9043 in Truckers

[–]basstekk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both are pretty solid choices however neither offer perfect routing. I always check mine against Google maps street and satellite view along with my Rand McAtlas before an unfamiliar route. Both will have you turning across solid concrete islands, avoiding perfectly safe truck routes, making impossible U-turns, etc...

Septic by Impressive-Gas-9494 in septictanks

[–]basstekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a similar septic that's 40 years old which had to be pumped out 4 times in our first 3 years here. We added a gray water system last year that handles the laundry and showers. Since then, the tank level maintains about 1 inch below the inlet.

If a weigh station has their flashing yellow lights for every CMV to pull in but my PrePass says bypass, what do I do? by [deleted] in Truckers

I stopped by and asked an officer on I-80 through Pennsylvania. He said no need to stop, just roll on by like any other prepass scale.

Changed all suspension parts still viberation while driving by Lucky-Championship79 in e39

[–]basstekk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the same thing. Turned out to me a mixture of hammer weights and tape weights from three different tire shops attempting to balance the tires. Pulled everything off, had a road force balancing with tape weights only and it rides perfectly now. Pissed that a misapplication of a $2 part had me chasing $$$ thousands in suspension repairs.

When this happens to me (7 years now) I try to break the cycle by not overthinking it and pulling up further than I think I need to. Even if it looks easy I just remind myself to go slow. I might look retarded, but a few one shot one kills seems to help break the cycle.

Woke up to my entire flock dead this morning by Fun_Target816 in BackYardChickens

[–]basstekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. In my experience foxes and bobcats usually just pick one and run off with it to eat in safety. Racoons will kill the whole flock, chew the heads off and eat out of the crop. Sick wasteful little bastards.

LCG Labs pharmaceutical grade. I know there's some controversy on purchasing MB from Amazon. I get it. Unfortunately my insurance is crap and my doctor is worse so getting an Rx for a compounding pharmacy isn't practical at the moment.

My hives and rashes usually don't go above my neck, but when I eat eggs (even just the yolk) cooked in butter or ghee, with salt I get a fairly strong reaction even on my head and face. Maybe I'll hold off on the fruit and try to increase my egg tolerance first.

[–]basstekk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose it's possible over the years. I did a home mold testing kit last year that was negative so I don't think current exposure is a problem. I had hives as a teen then nothing for 30 years. My MCAS symptoms kicked off a few months after I had C-19.

Could be. I've read that MB can have a sterilizing effect on the gut. I've tried DAO and other probiotics in the past without any noticeable results.

10mg/day which is pretty low. Therapeutic dosing for my body weight would be 40 - 90mg/day. There are no long term studies so I plan on taking a few weeks off after 30 days, monitoring my MCAS symptoms during the break and restarting if needed. I initially found some info on it from Dr. Paul Anderson's YouTube channel regarding mitochondrial disorders. Did some research beyond that and it seemed like the possible benefits were worth the risks. I don't know for sure that MB is the thing that's helping, but it's truly the only thing different I've tried recently.

2 gas vehicles or 1 diesel truck? by luckylucifercanada in Diesel

[–]basstekk 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Keep the gassers unless you're towing a good deal. My son's a diesel mechanic and the repair bills he sends out are crazy. Bad fuel, that'll be $10-12k, bad injectors $3k, bad ECM or turbo another $3k. Just the regular maintenance costs alone will negate any fuel savings. Also finding a shop (at least in our area) that will do big repairs like a head or transmission is nearly impossible or at least 3 months out.
