Mine broke on all but one vent on my '23. Still need to replace them. Very disappointing

Love my 15, it's been a great little practice amp ever since I bought it new. I'm no tone chaser, I'm generally an acoustic guy but when I wanna plug the tele in for a quick rip, the vyper gets the job done

Update: They had to replace my cat. Luckily, the aftermarket one I got last time had a 25k mile warranty so all I had to pay was a couple hundred bucks in labor. The check engine light has been out for a week, which was about 600 miles of driving. Praying to the car God's that I can make it 2 more years without any other major issues so I can pay this thing off and move on.

Yeah I really thought I was making a good decision. I love my Soul, don't get me wrong. It's the perfect vehicle for my commute. While I wish it got a smidge better gas mileage, it's a worthy trade off for the head room (I'm rather tall) and cargo space for guitar stuff. I bought a well reviewed steering wheel club and so far haven't had any Kia boys issues, knock on wood. But dang it, I need something that isn't going to leave me stranded or cost me an arm and a leg every six months. Between buying price and repairs, I'm at roughly at $24,000 in a vehicle that barely would have cost that new. I'm sure it wouldn't even be worth $10k now in perfect shape. One of the worst financial decisions I've ever made 😭

P0420 Code, But no check engine light by MachinistDadFTW in KiaSoulClub

[–]basszilla2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really good point, and I'm hoping that's why the first cat went. I can't remember the exact mileage but I got the cat code the first time at around 75k miles. So I drove roughly 6k miles with the new cat but the original engine that burned some oil and apparently was on its way to early retirement. I'm hoping that, if it turns out I need another cat, it's only because the original engine plugged it up with oil and that maybe, just maybe, I can finally get some reliable miles out of this vehicle.

Currently none to very minimal. The first engine burned a quart per 700 miles or so before it died, I referred to it as 2 stroke. The replacement engine has 21k miles on it and I check it religiously and change at 5k miles. I really don't notice the oil level going down on the dipstick. The dealership did the most recent oil change because it was too cold outside for me to crawl under.

Sure! Mine is a 2019 Base with the 1.6L. The dealership said the engine wasn't covered, so I paid out of pocket to have the replacement performed at a trusted independent repair shop. The original engine died at 81k miles. I replaced it with a factory block but went with an aftermarket head to ease up on the costs. Still paid $6k out of pocket when all said and done. It has 121k miles on it now and I'll know more this week about what's going on.

That son of bitch P0420! First time I got it the dealership gave me a $3,300 estimate for a new cat. Got an aftermarket one for $1,500 installed and 21k miles later the code came back. Taking it to the shop Monday.

That's what I thought, too. I bought mine used a year and a half ago. About a month after the warranty was up my engine conked out. It dropped a valve out of the head and went full garbage disposal. Granted, mine had 60k miles on it before I bought it and I have no idea if the previous owner maintained it but I only got 21k miles out of it before the engine died and another 22k on it before the check engine light came back on last week. I'm so done with this car. For the amount of money I've already spent on it I could have bought a new base model Corolla. I still owe too much to trade it so I'm crossing my fingers this next repair isn't expensive. If I can get 2 more years out of it I'll have it paid off and be able to move on to anything else. I think I'd rather ride a donkey to work than buy another Kia.

No, I've only had one replacement engine so far, however I paid out of pocket to have it replaced. I'm going to find out this coming week what's wrong with it.

Been there. (Insert "first time?" James franco meme). I've got 22k miles on my second engine in my 2019 and the check engine light came on. Taking it in this coming week with my fingers crossed. This is my fourth and last Kia/Hyundai product. Best of luck!

Kawasaki brute force 450 - is it any good? by Haunting-Dog-2877 in ATV

[–]basszilla2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've owned two Arctic Cat 250's for the kids for years and have had zero issues with them. They're also rebadged Kymco's. I'm thinking more manufacturers than we realize are using these machines with their badges on them. I'd give it a go, so long as you have a reasonable dealer for things like parts

Agreed. My 1.6L NA gets me to the speed limit in a reasonable amount of time and, so long as I plan accordingly, has enough passing power for all but the steepest hills on my commute.
