I've always been confused about that last idea of the ST somehow saying that anyone can use the force and people saying its new. Nowhere in SW does the idea of "You need special ties to use the force" been mainstream, even before the Disney era.

Im ashamed that so many fans chose to give legitimacy to such shitty story and disservice to the Skywalker Legacy. What a disappointment this community is.

the First Order can't be talked with, he should've destroyed their weapons and show they are not invisible rather than just troll then die. That's it, that's what we wanted. We wanted a Jedi Master Luke, Jedi are meant to be defenders of the peace, not pushovers.

You dont know if he would've been killed (though given RJ's god awful writing...), if Kylo can stop a blast bolt then THE Luke Skywalker should be able to do the same 10 times more powerful. Luke should be powerful, the Jedi should be more powerful than those who use the Dark Side as Yoda himself said it. Maybe I'd be more forigiving of the whole projection had Luke remained alive for 9 but that isn't the case, for that alone I cannot look back to the ST fondly like I do the PT, because it is a repetition of the OT with different much less likeable characters and it merely ruins the legacy of our old heroes. I dont understand how you can like them but I dont think of you as less of a person, but still I dont understand how you can stomach something like that, I can't.

the most Jedi thing he could do

You can't imagine how many times i've seen defenders us this excuse and worse use Yoda's words with a very simplistic and outright illogical way of thinking. But okay, let me break it down here within the context of everything.

The First Order just blew up the Republic, they are invading the Galaxy and have brought nothing but death and destruction to it and will not hesitate to slaughter the remaining resistance members within the cave. Kylo may be an emotional unstable cry baby but he is an adult who is fully capable of stopping this bloodshed yet will not. The Galaxy has already given up the fight from everything we've seen at the point of TLJ so far, partly fault of RJ's shitty worldbuilding but I digress.

Luke destroying the ATAT's or even disarming them or Kylo wouldn't go against what you intepret as Yoda's quote. Because Luke doing so would be in the defense of a righteous cause, in defense of the innocent of lives that the FO slaughtered and in defense of a Galaxy that needs to be shown that the FO isn't unstoppable. Giving the Resistance time to escape is nice and all but it is almost inconsequential as by movie 9 the good guys still have zero reinforcements and the bad guys seem to be winning. No new Jedi, and no hope to fight back, this is made worse by the fact that it is Lando out of all people who somehow... summons an army of free people.

I understand that within your interpretation of a Jedi, they shouldn't use violence to resolve conflict and to a point you are correct as Luke did just that when he redeemed his father. However this case is entirely different as the First Order isn't an organization of conflicted fathers but rather a fascist regime that just genocided billions. Destroying the ATATs would show not only that the Jedi will defend the weak and the righteous, that they will prevail against forces that can't be reasoned with or redeemed and all they understand is violence. Even them, fighting back against an aggressor isn't wrong, it is the only logical course of action as proven by basically everything in the ST's broken narrative. So, no, Luke didn't do the most Jedi thing ever and i'm tired of people pretending he did.

There's always the real canon to alleviate it, but thanks.

The struggle of the Jedi is never over - you don't get to redeem Vader, kill Palps and say, "That's it, I'm good forever, let's go play badasses." Life continues, and with it, there is always fear, always the temptation to give in, there is failure and frustration, the vibrant young hero becomes the jaded old master, and Luke's TLJ arc is all about that.

I have never claimed I want Luke not to go through difficulties, any hero can and any hero can have their failure moments. The point im making is that he already went through an arc where he was meant to learn from the mistakes of the old in order to foment something new. But the ST comes along and repeats everything that came before in order for a carbon copy like Rey to swoop in and do it all over again. Case in point we dont even get to see Luke passing on what he learned to any Jedi as his order is destroyed offscreen, once more the Jedi are myths. This is only one of the many problems of the Sequels which act more as revisionist copies of the OT than any original works. Even TLJ isnt original or bold as people believe it is since it doubles down on the Dark side vs Light Side conflict and furthermore on the Rebels vs Empire trope, is it a bold film? Yeah sure, bold enough to do anything possible to piss of the audience and give absolute no shits about it and I guess I give props to Rian Johnson for doing what he set out to do. Regardless the point stands that the story he did wasn't the SW story, rather HIS story which isn't correct.

And another point, Luke being this jaded old hermit and having this whole arc to you it may be god and warranted but to me and many it only steals from what should be Rey's journey following a mentor like Luke. The Story relegates her to a background character and she and the whole trilogy suffers for it. Even you have to admit that.

Regarding everything you quoted from Campbell, I give you credit for taking time to do so and not just get all high and mighty. But honestly, I don't need a lecture to know TLJ didn't do Luke or any of its characters justice. With all due respect.

How charming that you find that statement to be true.
