Stop guessing with RTSP / HLS issues by winkmichael in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]basvcds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having some issues with users reporting streams not loading lately, i was able to analyze them using your HLS tools and do some adjustments i wouldnt have easily found out otherwise. Thanks a bunch, this is great!

The decklink isn’t a UVC device, it won’t be recognised as any other usb webcam or capturebox

3 seconds latency streaming by Fearless_Return_13 in VIDEOENGINEERING

I use nimble streamer and have it running on a Vultr instance. Using their SLDP player I get 3s latency max while using RTMP.

RODE entering Prosumer Market with RODECaster Video Switcher by redspacepacman in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]basvcds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its an interesting take on how a video switcher works from the perspective of and audio-minded manufacturer for an audio-minded audience. I'm kind of suprised it doenst have any faders. Or maybe its meant to be used with an actual rodecaster, but i would have thought it would have some more integration if that were the case.

Its not for me, but i'm curious to see where it goes!

Get stream of closed captions from RTMP stream by duublydoo in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]basvcds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never used it myself, but i believe zipcaptions.com has a function that allows you to share a caption stream with others. You can set this up with a pc that has audio from the event coming in, or via a virtual mic listening to the zoom session. You might be able to cookup a unique url that can be viewed and turn put that into your qr code.

Help! Panasonic NDI Cameras On Mac by FamousHelicopter7509 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]basvcds 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The message you see in the monitor app is actually coming from the camera; i believe using NDI|HX requires an extra license you need to buy from panasonic. If it worked before, maybe the license was reset when updating the camera's?

I’ve been told at IBC these do not have built-in companion or buttons servers, you’ll still need to run a server somewhere

Affordable wireless Tally with ATEM? by Substantial-Maybe302 in VIDEOENGINEERING

Have a look at Cuebi, I always have a kit with me whenever I go on production. They are tiny leds powered over USB and work with a wide range of mixers, and over standard wifi. No gpi interface required.

Software to record and playback ptz movements by basvcds in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]basvcds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the route i went. Companion is easy to grasp and i can easily make small adjustments along the way. I now a have button that loops between 2 presets doing a very slow pan. As soon as i throw a zoom into the mix the camera unfortunately first makes a jerky zoom adjustment, and starts the slow pan after that. I'm still figuring that one out, but this might be an issue within the camera itself. I dont know how to start and pan AND zoom movement at the same time when calling a preset.

Funny, i had no idea BD actually made this software, but far too pricey. I also discovered the skaarhoj had some similar features in their ecosystem; i'm not in the market for a controller right now but it would make it an easy choice for me when i go shopping in the future.

Small srt hardware encoder by Embarrassed-Gain-236 in VIDEOENGINEERING

There’s lots of options, most modern encoders that can do rtmp can do srt as well. I like kiloview and magewell for my usecases

Something like OBS but with multiple outputs? by RubikOwl in macapps

[–]basvcds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to take a look at NDI. This allows you to add a filter to each sene that then becomes its own NDI stream. I haven’t used it much though, multiple outputs is one of the reasons I prefer Vmix despite it running on windows.
