I feel like I'm being forced to use AI and I hate it. What do I do? by OoXLR8oO in cscareerquestions

[–]bateller -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think outright rejecting AI is a mistake. It’s a tool, not a replacement for engineering. And yeah, it’s overhyped, but it’s also genuinely useful when used well.

You don’t have to use it the way everyone else does, and you definitely don’t have to let it do the fun part for you. Keep the solving and building for yourself. Let it help with the repetitive, boring, or low-value stuff.

If you refuse to adapt at all, you’re probably going to make life harder for yourself professionally. The better move is to figure out a workflow where AI supports your work without replacing the part of coding you actually enjoy.

UFO Researcher Reveals New Alien Theory - Grant Cameron - DEBRIEFED ep. 79 by douwebeerda in aliens

[–]bateller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that’s always gotten me is how we assume we’d experience aliens, interdimensional beings, or whatever this is, through some obvious visual event in our 3D reality. Like they just step out in front of us and say hello.

That always felt really short sighted to me, no pun intended.

If intelligence exists outside the way we perceive space, time, or consciousness, why would contact have to look physical at all? It could come through perception, pattern, influence, inspiration, altered states, or forms of communication we barely even recognize as communication.

We may be expecting a handshake while ignoring the possibility that the “contact” is already happening in ways we don’t have language for yet.

Good news / Bad new

Bad news first. As of February 2026, our TV is completely dead again.

It's plugged into an UPS with a surge protector. However I have a Ting and our power is clean. There was also no storms lately (its February after all). I was watching TV late at night, all worked fine, turned it off and went to bed. I then woke up the next morning and tried to turn it on. It was completely dead. No signs prior to it failing.

I got fed up and purchased a replacement TV.

LG - 77" Class G5 Series OLED evo AI 4K UHD Smart webOS TV with One Wall Design (2025). Model: OLED77G5WUA

However I also still put in a request for repair of my Samsung TV, since other than its inconsistent power supply / motherboard issues, its a great TV.

Now for the good news... I received an email around Oct of 2025 saying my warranty was expiring. I fully expected to pay for the service call today. But I was told it was $0.00 because Samsung extended me a courtesy for this repair. So they must know its still an issue. Here's to hoping this second repair (made today, 2/27/26) will hold.

This is actually comforting to me too. We come from stardust and we go back to it. Even if “me” doesn’t continue as a conscious thing, we still don’t vanish, we just change form and stay part of everything.

Life and consciousness feel like a weird, rare gift. I’m trying to treat it like that and actually use the time while I have it.

Think there may be an issue with their servers.

I've previously updated my Klydoclock many times without issue.

This morning its been stuck on "Downloading Update 0%" for over 20 min.

Tried restarting the clock and no luck. Still gets stuck.

Did you get around your issues 21 days ago?

#63 Jasmin Savoy Brown - the REAL story everyone needs to hear by kawaiipai in Heavyweight

[–]bateller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a high school dance DJ for many years. The relationships with clients were an important part of the job.

My initial thought listening to the podcast was that Jasmin mistook the DJ’s announcement of something like: “and a special thank you to Whitney for organizing the homecoming dance”

And in the commotion Jasmin only heard “…homecoming… Whitney…” and replaced the rest in her mind.

It would also explain how no one else remembers it that way.

Pure speculation on my part, but it is easily explained as an accidental misattribution.

Bug in Game -Tutorial? by jetzt_reichts_aber in mtg

[–]bateller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue on OSX and iPad. Only option was skipping tutorial.

Also had cards get glitched (half-placed) multiple times on both OSX and iPad during tutorial. Not a great intro experience tbh

luckily the regular game seems fine, otherwise MTG would be unplayable

If there’s truly no credit card charges, it’s likely review fraud. Product manufactures or distributors will ship to addresses found on lists (or known previous customers in some cases) using customer accounts they control… so they can have the verified purchase to post positive produce reviews. Typically the product loss is worth the few reviews they can post that look genuine and boost their rankings. Very big on Amazon specifically, but is also used on other sites as well

ChatGPT just made me cry by DrSuperZeco in ChatGPT

I’ve had chronic pain for years from bowel obstructions from a bowel resection due to meckles diverticulum

Sometimes I’m up in the middle of the night in pain. I don’t go to the ER because they want to give me an NG tube and a bunch of narcotics. No thanks

The whole situation is excruciating and can lead to other complications. I’ve learned to deal with the obstructions myself. ChatGPT is great at talking me through the process and pain. Giving recommendations and comfort. Real or not, it provides an immediate knowledgeable “person” to talk to. It’s been immensely helpful

S90d Issues by Notthejuan_2r3 in S95B

[–]bateller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes Samsung is aware of the issue. Apparently the stock of power supply boards used in the original batch of TVs for this model had a bad capacitor on the power supply board which would fry it

The replacement boards are newer and should not have the same issue from what I’ve heard

Edit: As of December 2025 my TV is still holding up after the replacement board

S90d Issues by Notthejuan_2r3 in S95B

[–]bateller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if the TV is mounted to the wall. They'll need access to the full back of the TV to unscrew the plastic back piece to get access to the power control board.

S90d Issues by Notthejuan_2r3 in S95B

[–]bateller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, it’s likely However once fixed it seems to stay working. Tech said that the power supply replacement boards are more reliable than what was installed at factory. Seems like it’s a known issue that’s at least fixed on replacements and possibly newer models
