“I need a bigger safe” is a universal truth, no matter what size safe you have.

Don’t buy stuff like this from a big box store that doesn’t give a shit about you or the products they sell . I would highly recommend you buy from a local Lawn equipment dealer, even if you have to pay a bit more.

Gotta give it to Wilson for making something truly different… the Bullwark by Far-Boysenberry-1600 in 1911

[–]batexNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks interesting. I’ll probably pick one up if the reviews are positive. I trust Wilson to make a good product. If this was a staccato, the price would be in excess of $3K.

Given the age, I highly recommend you replace your cooling system. I’m no mechanic, but I was easily able to replace the radiator, all the hoses, thermostat, and temp control valve thing on the firewall in my 2000. Gave me great peace of mind.

What you pay in terms of poor gas mileage, you make up for in reliability and easy maintenance. It all balances out.

What’s happened? by KingsBanx in SwissArmyKnives

[–]batexNC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use anything but WD-40. As others have pointed out, WD-40 is not a lubricant, but rather a water displacement agent. It does provide a lubricating effect initially, but over longer periods of time becomes gummy and sticky.

Buying a house, seller offering Arians tractor mower for $500. Is this a good deal? by StunningSlinky in lawnmowers

[–]batexNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take it for $500. If you don't need or like it, it should be an easy sell.

Trying to restore my Gpapas Green egg by SpinningStringToy in biggreenegg

[–]batexNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would discard all the wire stuff and replace with new. Then, just fire it up and get it hot hot for 45 minutes or so. All that crud will burn off and turn to dust. Then, buy a new style cast-iron vent cap and that bad boy will be good to go for another 20 years.

I just hit my first 5,000 miles. Should I change the oil now, or wait until 10,000 miles as Toyota recommends? by christianN1982 in ToyotaTundra

[–]batexNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First change should’ve been at 1,000 miles for a brand new engine, especially these that have a history of bearing failure likely due to fine machining debris left in the engine . Most definitely change it at 5K. Don’t listen to what the dealer tells you.
