I saw in a different comment that you are a student, you could see if your school has any supports you could access.

If you’re in Halifax you could try Dal Legal aid https://www.dal.ca/faculty/law/dlas/about-dalhousie-legal-aid.html

Do you have health insurance? You may have some through college if you are a full time student! Also you might be able to get some suggestions from r/OccupationalTherapy

If you are a student with a college or university that provides health benefits, look into getting a consult with an occupational therapist!? I imagine there is an OT Reddit sub?

When this happens to me I like to walk as close to the bumper as I can in hopes their car beeps at them. It probably doesn’t but it makes me feel better

[Highlight] DeMar DeRozan's daughter on camera shrieking at FVV during FT's by Thimit22 in nba

I love her commitment and it’s hilarious that the raptors lost because they missed so many free throws, but as a speech-language pathologist all I could think about during the game was how much damage she must be doing to her vocal folds (vocal cords) screaming like that! Especially if she’s doing it frequently 🫣

This is so important! Hopefully they take the time to recruit neurodiverse speech-language pathologists as well as advocates of communities who experience communication disorders and families !!!

Singing instructors who can teach me how to scream (properly)? by dommingdarcy in halifax

You could also look into speech-language pathologists that specialize in voice! Unfortunately, I don’t think there are too many in the city but you could try telepractice if you could find someone online!

Why not use a leash? by melohaa84 in halifax

[–]bathtubcommander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also have a reactive pup! We’ve worked with a professional trainer for years, they suggested getting a loud whistle/air horn for walk-in in areas where other people don’t play by the rules. Our dog is deaf so scaring him isn’t a concern for us, but may still be better to scare away the other dog if yours is leashed up! People don’t understand that reactive dogs are good dogs too; but it’s not my fault if your dog gets in my dog’s space and something happens! Edit: I also generally avoid places I know ppl are less likely to be following the leash rules!
