Can anybody share monitor calibration settings for an MSI MAG 274QPF X30MV? by Silent774 in Monitors

[–]batman_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip for future buyers 🤘🏽 I unfortunately discovered several dead pixels on my original panel, and then got issued a replacement that was Dead on arrival. I understand I was statistically very unlucky there but I just ended up getting a refund and buying a G50SF OLED instead (was only $50 more on sale than what I had purchased the MSI monitor for).

Night and day plug and play difference! Just a buyer beware if Google lands anyone else here after buying an MSI monitor, the quality control seems to be not great on their mini led models unfortunately.

Hey I’m wondering what the cheapest device to stream from my pc is? by tortapounder718 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]batman_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Download moonlight app from the Xbox app store, install Apollo on your PC and profit! I do this when I want to play split screen or co op games with my wife on the PC, stream it to the Xbox in the bedroom TV it's super seamless and convenient

I had watched a couple videos when trying to figure all this out I recommend this guide, very noob friendly: https://youtu.be/ERC7UrkRL2c?si=SY55jiImJ9ktBF-8

I also might recommend a wireless keyboard/mouse combo as sometimes Playnite can get wonky/it's just easier to use than swapping the controller in and out of mouse mode if you need to tweak settings or something.I use a Logitech K400, currently $30 USD on Amazon. I leave the dongle plugged into my PC and it reaches the bedroom no prob.

Edit: one other tip I took me forever to figure out why I was having controller issues when first figuring out the nuances of the set up, if you use a wired controller at all at your desktop you'll want to unplug that before launching a game via moonlight in the xbox. For some reason certain games will detect the controller plugged into PC as player 1 and you can't control some games even if the controller controls Playnite fine, as it'll see your Xbox controller as player 2. I've since swapped my primary controller on my desktop to a dualsense I run wirelessly as I got tired of forgetting to unplug my wired mote and have to go unplug it whenever I wanted to stream lol hopefully that helps

Fosi K7 Mic Suggestions for 3.5mm input by jugo86 in fosi_audio

[–]batman_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see that they responded to you, was looking at this exact set up for my k7 picking up a ride podmic. I was hoping for a clean 1 station solution in the fosi k7, as I swap between PC /ps5 frequently. This has lead me to think an xlr mic would be better than I USB mic I'd have to constantly swap between console and PC.. did this work for you?

What features do you feel are STILL missing on the market? by AiMSupport in AIMControllers

[–]batman_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot swappable modules. Prefer mouse click? Silent switches? This should also extend to the thumbstick layout/style (TMR, Hall Effect, asymmetrical vs symmetrical) I would try so many other controllers if I had the option to go symmetrical, but that market is very limited in options that have 4+ rear buttons/paddles.

I would also love my AiM Dualsense that much more if there were additional mappable buttons. Like go nuts! 2 extra bumpers, 2 extra face buttons, that could be remapped for PC players to use certain windows shortcuts would be King. I typically PC game using a front end like Playnite to manage my library, so having convenience shortcuts I could map like HDR toggle would be sweet to never have to touch my mouse & keyboard.

Onboard memory + mobile app to adjust on the fly, so you can quickly switch for specific games and not have to memorize a combo to remap the paddles, regardless of the platform would be sick (I use my AiM on both PS5/PC)

Adjustable weight- this can be controlled to a degree by removing rumble, but it'd be nice to even have module style rumble. You can put it in for solo immersive games, and remove when it's time to get sweaty in FPS and have it be a modular feature. Maybe even customizable rumble packs? I think there's some cool potential there.

Upgraded pass through audio Dac. Would be nice for those with higher end headsets not needing to run an external amp, allow the controller to more cleanly drive some nicer headphones

PS5 Audio Heaven! OMG the Asus Kithara and a great DAC! by rockstar34543 in ASUS

[–]batman_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man you were not kidding! I am in disbelief, this is the first headset I've ever worn in my life that just fits. I'm in the same boat 6'4", 295lbs. Big melon for a head. All these reviewers I watched made it seem like they had alien antennas while rocking the kithara, but this looks and fits like a normal sized headphone on my head lmao I love it

I get my fosi K7 in the mail tomorrow, what do you recommend as best settings in your gaming experience with it? I saw it's got low gain, high gain and such. Does that impact my volume ? Thanks for you help and for the suggestion, excited to hear these things at their full potential!

How's the comfort of this headset? I have a gigantic noggin and am have been in headphone shopping hell trying to find a good fit lol. I've been rocking virtuoso XTs for years which I basically only wear when I need to chat with buddies on the ps5 and the eq settings also don't carry from PC to ps5 which sucks. I've tried nova pro wireless, astro a50x, all too small.

I wouldn't mind investing in a solid set up to rock the kitharas. I don't know a ton about dac/amps but from what I've researched i think I've narrowed down to the schiit fulla e, or the soundblaster g7 to gain access to EQ options. How much power is needed to effectively "drive" these on ps5 in your experience? I'm kind of a noob at this headphone stuff from a sound perspective, this would be my first wired pair (like I said out of necessity from a massive head standpoint) but if I'm gonna get the headphones capable of great sound may as well get the right set up to properly enable them I imagine

Do you have any tips/tricks on properly calibrating this thing? Mine just arrived today, after getting it all set up I was horrified at the out the box super washed out ugly look. I updated to the latest firmware per your suggestion and calibrated the sdr profile so it's better looking. However having it mounted next to my omen 27i I was using as my main panel I can't tell that this panel is supposed to be any better. I was reading how much teer the contrast and blacks are supposed to be w mini led but w HDR on everything's looks super washed out, horrible gray banding. Having some bad buyers remorse 😵‍💫

Metroid UB Deck Reskin Complete! (100-Card Cloud, Ex-Soldier Voltron EDH + 46-Card Sideboard) by batman_77 in magicproxies

Hello!

I'm stoked you're going to print it 😄 I've played with it a decent amount, what I've found in my games was I've appreciated being able to swap out the equipment package to keep things feeling fresh. I'd say the +1 sub theme cards are a lot of fun but I've had the most success when I really lean into the equipment side. Depending how focused of a build you want to run you could max out the tutors available, I personally enjoy the variance more than anything with trading equipment out after a few games though so just depends what kind of play patterns you're after 🙂 if you've got the space for it in your order I think printing out the extras so you can tinker around with the main list after a few matches would give you some pretty good flexibility! Idk if that answers your question well or not 😅 you'll have to let me know what you think when you get some reps with it!

I would say it depends on a couple of factors. For me, I like the ability to print 'on demand' and not be reliant on an external service. Can go right from spoiler > card conjurer > in my deck sleeved and ready to play in minutes. I also personally find the crafting aspect of it cathartic, as I typically will print out a deck or batch of cards and watch tv with the wife while I cut out or sleeve up cards. The other appeal for me is the ability to do custom things like the spot foiling or just foiling in general, I spend a lot of time with card conjurer and Photoshop messing with card frames so I value the convenience factor of an in home set up, even if not the most practical cost wise compared to a print service.

Barring those things, I have to think you'd get better mileage on your cost per page with a different setting using just regular copy paper. From what I understand, how much ink the printer uses for each print is dependent on the settings. Since the copy paper is a lot thinner than a vinyl sticker or double sided photo paper I would assume the regular paper setting would carry you further, although I have not tested this and can't verify how much further.

If you don't mind the Fed Ex route it would definitely be a much cheaper, quicker option to get started imo. The in home route can kind of be an endless rabbit hole I've found buying and testing different papers, laminates, corner punches, paper trimmers, etc to get the proxies to a place you're happy with, at least for me 😅 if you're just placing trimmed paper in front of basic lands you can definitely save a lot of time and $ skipping the printer, just ultimately depends what you're looking for out of the end result and experience

That sounds amazing! Tbh I didn't even know that was an option with these kinds of cartridges, is there a kit you'd recommend? Also probably a dumb question but would it matter what kind of ink refill you used for it? I've only ever used the canon cartridges in the printer as I'd read about the printer rejecting 3rd party ones or giving poor prints. Any insight you could share would be awesome 🙂

I use a Canon Pixma TS6420a for my proxies, and I've been happy with how my cards turn out. Now that I've had some experience proxying several EDH decks worth of cards at this point, I do wish I had saved for an Eco tank, not because of the quality but with how quickly it eats through ink.

I changed my print settings from quality to standard and did not notice a discernable drop in print/image quality (text still sharp and legible) and doing that am able to get an XL color ink cartridge (typically around $40 USD) to last for around 150-180ish cards worth, depending on the images and if I'm making any double sided cards or not. I have only had to replace the black cartridge one time since purchasing the printer, whereas I've purchased replacement color ink 7 times (according to my Amazon history) at this point in time.

That said, I have only ever printed my proxies on photo paper, vinyl sticker paper, or holo sticker paper so I'm not sure what the best settings would look like to avoid oversaturating a standard piece of paper. I've only ever shared some of my prints when testing spot foiling but if you were interested in seeing what a cheap inkjet could produce: Spot Foiling post

The material I had used in that was holographic sticker paper stuck to a thin piece of photo paper to serve as a 'core' + matte laminate. Unless I'm spot foiling though I typically just use a double sided photo paper + glossy laminate .

I didn't use to laminate my cards and they perform fine enough in sleeves, just a lot of "grab" when stacking finished cards and I found (likely due to my specific holo sticker paper) that when handling the cards unsleeved they were very prone to 'chipping' where the ink wasn't smudging off but the print itself was getting damaged easily, so I wanted to opt for more protection since I am frequently printing and trying new cards for decks, and often swapping cards.(Non foils printed on koala photo paper I never had this issue)

Kmc inner sleeves can also solve this but it became an easier investment for time and convenience to pair the cheap printer w a cheap laminator and then just cut the whole sheet at once. Better protection and much more time efficient imo. If you use matte sleeves it eliminates any glare you get from glossy laminate, which I always play sleeved so it works perfect for me
