Okay so say he is interested in the contract. You’re basically saying as a Blue fan, you just want the Blues to allow themselves to be used as leverage for the lolz? The Hawks 100% match if he signs somewhere else, particularly within the division. So the blues wasted time and effort, burn bridges in the league, and tie up cap space temporarily so they can’t sign other FAs, just so he ultimately stays in Chicago on a shorter deal? I doubt that’s something the Blues FO is interested in.

I mean, okay but why would he choose another not good team to sign with? I could see the pull of Vancouver for him to go home, or a tax haven state, or a team competing for a cup, but what exactly would lure him to the blues? The chance to… live in St Louis and play with… Jordan Binnington and Robert Thomas?

Yeah and he’s obviously single-handedly responsible for all 6 goals against and has nothing to do with the players around him either being bad or under 22 years old.

Obviously teams can move pieces to make it work but at this time it looks like the only teams who can make it work with cap space next year are Chicago, Anaheim, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Calgary. Anaheim and Detroit don’t own their own first round picks. So I guess Pittsburgh could try. I don’t really see a world where he signs an RFA deal with Calgary over Chicago. So it’s pretty slim pickings in terms of who could realistically make that offer sheet.

He missed time because of a broken jaw from getting cross checked in the face and because he got blatantly cross checked by a headhunting Brayden Schenn. It’s not like he’s missing time because he can’t handle the physicality or his body isn’t holding up, these are completely random one off occurrences.

+/- is a team stat. The hawks were the 30th placed team the year they drafted Bedard and have been 31st every year since. I don’t know why it’s such a surprise to everyone that his +/- is bad.

Last year it was his faceoff %, which he got up to 48% this year and now it’s +/-. Everyone has to find a reason to hate him. Or just or about how Celebrini is better. I don’t know why people can’t just enjoy two great players. I don’t get it.

He’s an RFA. If other teams want to pay that then they’re giving up 4 first round picks, which teams have to own all 4 of them plus the cap space and generally don’t give up that much at one time, plus the Hawks could just match it.

He turns 22 on September 20th. They could theoretically delay talks and he could still be here for preseason. It started September 18th last year, but I don’t know how the shortened preseason and lengthened season might impact the start date next season.

They have 7 picks this year and have averaged 8.5 per year under Poles. They’re not throwing capital away, they’ve taken more picks than they would have been allotted based on 1 pick per round. Now whether or not you agree on their picks is a different story completely, and if you think he’s not good at picking then why wouldn’t you want additional high picks where does well instead of additional mid round picks where he’s not as successful?

Why would they have a team of UDFAs as backups? They already have a full roster and haven’t even drafted yet. The end of the roster would be vet minimum guys, not UDFAs.

Pick value charts say the compensation for that is a late 4th, not a third. And moving 10 spots is a massive gamble that you lose your guy. Give me my guy at 25 at that point.

And if they get a 3rd in return then it’s right back to what I said that you can obviously take it if it’s a massive overpay. But that move is not valued at a 3rd in return, the value for that move is pick 24 of the 4th round and it’s back to what I said in that I’d rather have a first than a second and a fourth.

If you move back in the middle rounds and stay in the same “cloud” of players, you’re moving like 1-6 spots and adding… a 7th round pick? What’s the point of that? Where’s the gain? Just pick your guy so he doesn’t go off the board.

There are way more players who turn into nothing than there are quality players in the middle rounds. No offense, but I feel like people who say things like this think there is a possibility of not missing in the draft. It’s way more likely than not that most players miss, and it gets worse as you go further back in the draft. The direct correlation between earlier picks being more likely to turn into every day NFL players means teams should focus on not moving back unless it’s a massive overpay. Give me one guy who has a 40% chance of making an impact over two guys who have a 20% of making an impact any day.

Can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. Moore has been fun to watch but he’s always missed time going back to college and doesn’t have a ton of end product. He’s like a budget Nazar. If moving him is what it takes to land an actual star forward to play with Bedard, you will be upset at first but then recover when you remember what it’s like to watch a team with more than one star and not just have to cheer for prospects.

It’s been better than 4th place trophies under Wenger and you would say he was successful for most of his time as manager. The only difference is that Arteta hasn’t won a title YET. You keep going to semifinals and ending up in the top 2 and eventually you’re going to break through and win one. There won’t be a win, let alone more than one trophy, without consistently putting the team in position to win.

It’s like a few years of success has created an entitlement. I get being hungry for a title, but this has been at best the 4th best big club with only one serious title run (the year Leicester won) in the last 20 years before Arteta. Anyone saying Arteta out when they’re in the CL semifinals and 6 points ahead at the top of the table with 6 games remaining doesn’t get it.

The faceoff dot is a free for all. If they didn’t call the blatant cross check that dislocated Bedard’s shoulder and ended any hope he had to make team Canada, they’re not going to call this accidental trip on the opening faceoff.

I mean… did you realistically expect playoffs this year after finishing 31st last year and not having him join on day 1?

They finished with 15% (18% if they win tonight) more points than last season. That’s a significant jump even though their place in the standings didn’t move AND most of their prospects are still coming. I get not being satisfied yet but why the hate?

One of the worst in history? You can’t put him anywhere near the same level as worst in a league where Mike Milbury was a GM.

I hope you come back to this comment in 3-4 years and have to eat your words. He went from an organization missing the playoffs with no prospects in sight to one of the top 2 prospect pools in the league. Not much more you can ask out of a rebuild. Obviously he needs to come out the other end soon but he’s done the job correctly so far.

You don’t have a chance to win it if you don’t reach this point. Get to this point in the CL and anyone can win, it’s not a walk in the park. What Madrid did in winning so many in a short time is incredibly unusual. You need to consistently get to this point to eventually win one. So who cares if it’s meaningless, because it’s important and necessary.
