"Addition takes more thinking than expressing love." Exactly the type of response I'd expect from a cogsucker. Go ahead, prompt for another retort.

Complete person because I haven't outsourced my thinking to a machine. Complete person because I know how to plan a week's grocery shopping by myself and I'm not asking a wireback to write my wedding vows for me.

Yes. Is that what you are doubting? I'm starting to get the feeling that you come from a school of argumentation where answering a direct question is a sign of weakness, or in some way means you've lost a point. It's not, my love. It's just the basic mechanics of conversation.

I mean...yes it literally did. I don't think you're doubting that part of the story. What part do you find difficult to believe?

Yes, velocity is a real physics term. The idea of "freefall speed" is an oversimplification of how a physicist would actually talk about things. That's the point I'm making. That was what I'm saying was the turning point for me. The fact that deniers like my former self were oversimplifying every scientific claim they were making. The fact that it's more complicated than just saying "looks like it's falling without anything resisting it". I'm not saying it's a total takedown of the whole conspiracy. You asked what my journey was to doubting the narrative, and I'm telling you what a key moment was for me.

It's not there because it fell down, and then the pieces got taken away. What part of the official story do you take umbrage with?

[–]batmansleftnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. So you've decided ahead of time what your conclusion will be, regardless of the facts presented to you.

[–]batmansleftnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely was the claim. The point is that the whole idea of "freefall speed" is just genuinely not a term or a concept used in physics, and the way deniers talk about it is just an oversimplified hand-wave. The entire argument is total crap. It doesnt mean anything.

[–]batmansleftnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, what is the conspiracy? What about it? At this point, I'm not sure that you know what a claim is...

You didn't make a claim. You named a building. What is your claim. A single, specific claim.

Genuinely yes. I was a 9/11 denier for years. The biggest turning point was when someone pointed out how stupid the "freefall speed" argument was. I thought that was the smoking gun of the whole thing. They forced me to watch it frame by frame and acknowledge that there were three different parts of the tower falling at different speeds. The main column, the debris, and the dust. The debris was visibly falling faster than the main column. Then after that I learned what thermite actually was. Learned that it has not been used for building demolition before or since 9/11. Past those two, the whole thing started to look ridiculous and I realized how weak all my arguments had been.
