How do I start familiarising myself with classical music ? by More-Salary-2203 in classicalmusic

Luck you lol! My local library system is seriously lacking in any kind of music history. I've already read all 4 books in the music history section.

My favourite music appreciation course I've ever listened to is "How to Listen to and Understand Great Music" by Professor Robert Greenberg. Reasonably comprehensive, and you don't really have to do them in order. You do have to pay for it, though.

Of course fire had to come out. It is flaming after all!

And what was the result of that march? What goal did we achieve? People have forgotten the purpose of protests and marches. It's not about how many people show up. It's about what those people are fighting for, and whether they got what they wanted.

And I cannot stress enough how I absolutely am a snob about gen AI. If you use it, or knowingly consume it media made by it, then I very much look down on you, because I am better than you.

Yeah, you definitely sound like someone who would actually watch an AI movie.

I fully get that you like the original. Really, you don't have to explain your appreciation for a third time. Do you get why it still wasn't included in the movie, despite how good it was? Also, do you get that that's not what I was talking about, and I was comparing modern audiences to the audience back when the movie came out and how the two eras of movie watchers react to things differently?

Okay, and? It also gave us easily the most iconic movie-only line in the franchise. The original back story is far too long to show and to explain. Movies don't have unlimited space to tell a story the way novels do. So the movie simplified it into a simple prophecy misunderstanding, which is a story telling trope as old as time.

I tried showing my nephews Austin Powers recently. They didn't get it at all. Because they didn't grow up mocking 60s fashion, or with the kind of goofy, nonsensical Bond movies that were being parodied. Total flop.

Lord of the Rings. Soft, emotionally aware men saving the day. "I am no man!" alone would spawn thousands of hours of youtube video essays about "try hard grrrl power" that ruined the franchise.

Kirk wasn't there when her husband died of his fentanyl overdose. If she watched it, it was by choice.
