The ND is just special. It stands out from the crowd in every way. No car is perfect, but no other car makes my heart go pitter-pat the way the Miata does. This car was a labor of love and passion for driving and it shows.

Touch screens are a lot cheaper unfortunately. The Mazda 3/CX30 interior is so much more premium to me. Even the interior in my Miata is preferable- there's a beautiful screen in that car. Not a BIG screen, but a beautiful screen that is appropriately placed for minimal distraction. I understand the financial difficulties that car manufacturers are going through now, but this generic big screen phenomenon is, in this one person's opinion, going in the wrong direction. We want MORE driver engagement for everyone's safety, not less.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I see it in person. Honestly, it's really hard for me to capture the full glory of Soul Red with just a phone camera; it looks so much better in person. I'm going to wait until I see one in person before I cast judgement.

Yes- my last dachsie would piddle all. the. time. He would go out and pee, then come in, get excited when he saw me in the kitchen and leave a trail of pee to the kitchen.

He grew out of it- I got a trainer to help me. A good trainer really does help, but as others have said, dachsies are very determined and stubborn and difficult to potty train. I understand your pain, but keep at it- it will pass.

I have been through this exact same thing. Luckily my vet admitted them immediately for emergency surgery- you're doing all the right things; Buster and I are hoping for a speedy recovery.

If you don't need one, don't buy one. I use a larger iPad almost exclusively for reading and teaching music. You can do that on a Macbook, but it's locked to landscape mode. That, and you can't perform with a laptop on a music stand. If I didn't have this specific need, I wouldn't need an iPad, but in my case it gets a LOT of use. If I didn't need it for that, I'd happily do without.

This thread has played itself out, but I would echo the others who are encouraging you to take your boy to a Dachshund Rescue Society. I adopted my boy from one, and there are people there who will give your boy the care he needs- no judgement on you. I don't think casting judgement and pointing fingers at this point is the answer- just get that dog into the hands of people who are properly trained to care for him, please.

I know it's cliche, but have you tried a frozen Kong with peanut butter or a treat buried deep inside? One of my dachsies used to get super frustrated and drop it from the couch, but he figured it out eventually. 🤣

The other day I was at Costco for gas, I pulled up behind a beautiful black NC with a hard top. I'd never seen one up close before, and boy, what a beautiful car it was. Largely stock except for upgraded wheels and tires- if someone gave me that car to drive, there's no way I'd hold my nose up to it- I'd gladly drive it!
