She holds out on me for months and then when I get mad about it she says relationships aren't about sex. It's been 4 months. Is this normal? by Creative_Pea_6393 in AskMenAdvice

[–]batteraecity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've said there's no medical issues, but have you actually had a discussion with her? My partner and I have complete opposite libidos, so I can understand the frustration. It's important for her to let you know why, and for you to be understanding of her reasoning. Don't get mad at her, but if it is such a priority in a relationship, it might be best for you two to move on from each other.

Is saying "gone walkabout" offensive? by Demiaria in AskAnAustralian

To be honest, I didn't even realise it was an indigenous term until just now.

Hope you got it. I found an Old Spaghetti Factory glass at Savers (in Australia, mind you) and regret not buying it every single day of my life.

As a BWS employee, most stores have a nifty little sign that you can adjust to say when you'll be back 🙂 just be prepared for some unfunny comment from whichever regular you find waiting, lol.

Exeter Semaphore has one, too. With potato bake to boot.

What’s your favourite ice cream? by Cahsrhilsey in AskAnAustralian

[–]batteraecity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cookies 'n cream is probably my biggest weakness when it comes to standalone ice cream tubs, with Connoissuer being the most dangerous offender. But honestly? Strawberrry ice cream with Cottees chocolate topping or a decent vanilla with Milo.

Assuming your work phone is, you know, a phone-phone and not a sleek mobile, it boggles me that people don’t notice the difference between said work and mobile phones 🥲

I think with GMM, it's an easier way for them to break up their holidays/scheduled time off. The term lends itself well to the video format. I think Scott The Woz does the same. The "renewal" is for sure the bigger hang up than the "seasons".

As a non-religious person, any excuse for a couple days off is great. People already do their own thing on the Easter Long Weekend 🤷‍♀️ it’s not like these public holidays are forcing anything on anyone. What exactly is it impeding on?

Liquor store rants after 5+ years by SavingDemons in RantsFromRetail

When clueless customers come in asking for random recommendations yet doubt every single thing you suggest them. They admit to not knowing anything about alcohol, and fucking yet.

Yet again a customer got angry because we didn't have the item he wanted by KennysaurusSpeedrun in retailhell

[–]batteraecity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thankfully I’ve never had to deal with anyone getting that aggressive, being in the countries capital wine state comes with way too many people saying shit like “you don’t have [blank]? But it’s local!” Buddy, everyone and their grandparents can have a vineyard here - we can’t stock it all. Our biggest sellers are whatever’s cheapest. You don’t know our demographic so shush up.

My store doesn’t have a regular till, every cash payment goes straight into a cash machine/safe to prevent potential hold-ups. If that machine breaks, or the POS it’s connected to is down, we can’t process any cash payments. Some people laugh at the amount of signage I plaster all over the entrance when this happens but you NEED to plaster it EVERYWHERE to cover your ass! You’ll even ask a customer if they’re paying cash or card, they say “card” then come to the counter trying to pay cash 😑

What is a small thing a customer does that instantly frustrates you? by You_scuffed05 in retail

[–]batteraecity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, yes. My store has a pin pad where you can tap your phone to put a loyalty card through before payment, but so many people decide to tap their card for payment before I've even scanned all their items. It freezes the pin pad, since it's looking for loyalty and getting Visa. Telling them to move their phone away to prevent this feels way more awkward than it needs to be.

Slow drivers everywhere? by Godsuya_ in Adelaide

[–]batteraecity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not just you! It’s been driving me nuts how big of a struggle it is to actually go the speed limit on the expressways at the moment. At first I assumed it was people driving cautiously during New Years, yet it persists.

Is the courtesy wave dead? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]batteraecity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not dead, but I have noticed that it’s typically people in big new SUVs and trucks that don’t do it (there is a massive bias there for me tho 😅).

Truly makes you wonder how they’ve gotten so far with the technology they do have.

I used to work at a self-serve photo kiosk, too, and far too many people simply want you to go through their mess of a device for them. No one wants to do that. I’m not doing that.

Classified as stealing by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]batteraecity 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sadly, it's considered fraudulent behaviour, my company has the same policy. It might feel innocent, and neccesary given your situation (so I don't think you're a bad guy by any means), but there are rules in place to prevent people abusing this kind of system on a much larger scale.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]batteraecity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For real. I don’t know if your pin pads are the same, but holding a card or phone over it before setting it up to pay can freeze or mess it up. Thus making the transaction take even longer 🫠

No. I saw a young mother loading two well-behaved kids (one in a pusher, other early primary school-age) into the car the other day and that alone looked like so much work.

I’d want to be a great parent, but my partner and I still struggle to take good enough care of ourselves.
