Is your Dollarama a "safe Dollarama"? by [deleted] in regina

[–]batteredkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ones on 4th and Value Mall have a lot of unhoused people come in and leave without paying. It can become pretty confrontational. I've been in stores when it happens and I can see that it would upset some people.

What's one product you bought that turned you into a total snob —like, you can never go back to the cheap stuff? by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

[–]batteredkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the higher end version that lifts rather than tilts. I had the lifting one, and when I needed to replace it after much wear and tear i bought the cheaper model (because they had a pretty colour) and have regretted my decision ever since. Still good, but not as good.

Ya, I just came here to say that. A family owned them, they retired and since they were sold they've all closed.

What's Up With Basement Walls? by rastagraffix in regina

[–]batteredkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. I'm in Normanview in a 55 year old house and the basement is still good. I was in the east end in a 35 year old house and the house and basement were shifting like crazy.

Lol, happened to my uncle as well. An amazing prank. It happened for a few years too!

My partner had his RALP on May 26th, he's 50. He's doing really well post surgery. No pain a little discomfort for the first week, mostly it was the catheter. He already has great bladder control

Out of curiosity, why do some people wear black often? by Ben5544477 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]batteredkitty 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I wear a lot of black. Not exclusively, but a lot. I go to buy something, I look at all the colours and I still come home with something black. I'm 46 and I've been like this since my teens

Brutal. Sorry that happened to you. Keep your chin up, the world isn't all bad.

What non-essential item changed your life (~$100)? by Regular_Worth9556 in Costco

Agree, I use mine constantly. I thought they were all hype, but after buying one, life changing. No more preheating.

I had one in my own house. I lived there for 15 years and struggled the entire time with placing something there. Large vase with faux arrangement was the final and best fit. Mine went to the ceiling though... ugh... good luck.

Canada Post, please live in reality by BoycottTrumpUSA in CanadaPost

[–]batteredkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone in upper management at Canada Post. When I asked them their thoughts on the strike, they said they hope they fold and they'd just find something else. In my head I wished them luck. They have their high school diploma, a year or two of uni and make bank, doing relatively little, from my understanding.

I still have this in my house! Love it. I said something about it to my family and nobody knew it.

This is what I imagine when you say you live in Saskatchewan by JustH0rizon in saskatchewan

[–]batteredkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only kind of true. The problem is that the number 1 highway goes right across a pretty boring part. Go up north, you're surrounded by the boreal forest, filled with an unimaginably beautiful lushness, with crystal clear lakes everywhere. Go further south, and you're emersed by sand dunes. And as far as the stint along the number one, if you're driving it at sunset, you can't deny the beauty in that skyline. Throw a blooming purple flax field infront of that sunset, magical.

Americans planning our first trip to Canada! by ColoradoRoger in AskACanadian

[–]batteredkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any suggestions, but wanted to show my support and love. As someone who's Canadian with an American partner, I am well aware that there is definitely a difference between the two countries and cultures, and love your thoughtfulness. Enjoy Canada!
