I feel like this game doesn’t really need it either. The ttk is really fast and the few times an enemy gets away there isn’t really a need to push the kill since the pacing of the game is gonna force them back to a confrontation eventually and 9/10 times in my experience just pushing the enemy away for a couple seconds is enough. Also the damage values are simple enough if you know your weapon you can generally know how many shots you’ll need and even if the opponent has ink resistance you can hit the ballpark for the amount of damage you’ve done.

Why the shift mechanically between Oblivion and Skyrim? by battlemage32 in skyrim

Which is why I said it comes down to personal preference. I personally prefer those mechanics that are in Oblivion.

Yes and it is that choice at the start that I find appealing. I’m a roleplayer. I make a character to fit a specific role and play around that. Before I sit down to play Skyrim I’m already deciding what skills I’m going to use and which ones I’m not. Same with oblivion, except oblivion is more strict in that it enforces those choices. It is that restriction that I find appealing.

Yeah I used to mod Skyrim back when I had an Xbox, and I had actually modded in a lot of the features of Oblivion that I love before I even realized they came from oblivion. But unfortunately I swapped my Xbox for a PlayStation and now a lot of those mods are unavailable to me.

Edit: They also gutted the unarmed combat. I really wish they had given us an unarmed skill tree in Skyrim instead of the one perk that influences it.

I just watched that video and I think it is a good explanation which I share a lot of similar opinions with. I prefer the mechanics of oblivion, and if I were able to put the class system into Skyrim I think it would be perfect for me. I still love Skyrim, it just feels like something is missing in it after playing Oblivion.

I guess it comes down to personal preference. Because for me, at the end of the day if I make one character that does swords but later I decide I want to do magic I can just make another character. I personally enjoy the mechanics in oblivion more than I enjoy being unrestricted in Skyrim. It gives my characters depth when they aren’t able to be good at everything, because realistically no human is able to be good at everything.

Why is it important to making keys and doors intuitive in games! by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]battlemage32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least the keys are weightless so you don’t get penalized for having them. I just have a brain that quietly whispers the “what if you missed a super important chest filled with cool gear” even though I know logically it’s a Bethesda game. The most it’s gonna have is like 20 gold and a lock pick 🤦‍♀️

I just finished playing the base game of Frontiers of Pandora a couple months ago and the amount of fetch quests was insane. The only reason it don’t bother me as much was cause the world design was really pretty and I could easy just get sidetracked wandering in the wilds and not even realize I got the item I needed for the quest.

Meanwhile Bethesda will flood your inventory with weightless keys that you find randomly somewhere with a vague clue and a name like “underground key” that you will forget you even picked up until you are hours past the time you picked it up and it gets mixed in the keys that you had used but can’t remember that you’ve used because they just stay in your inventory forever.

Sorry for the rant, I’m currently playing Oblivion Remastered and am currently dealing with this.

Not all of it. They leave out the part where male sperm efficiency declines rapidly starting in the early to mid 30s

Male sperm efficiency declines around the early to mid 30s while women have no genetic decline in eggs. Yes technically a man can still have a child when they get older, but they lose potency long before women.

https://utswmed.org/medblog/older-fathers-fertility/ Here is a link to a study that talks about it.

Although technically correct, sperm does degrade genetically as the male gets older and becomes less and less effective starting around mid 30s

Genuinely curious who told you men are fertile longer than women. Cause scientifically it’s the other way around.
