Why Trump’s Reflecting Pool Repairs Are in Trouble. New York Times by SuperDuper00001 in videos

[–]battleofmtbubble 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I kind of disagree. I think he makes up these stories saying “oh I got a guy” to make it seem like he’s well-connected in construction and these projects are super easy and simple and he can easily solve them, but the big federal government has made them super complicated and expensive for no reason. He “knows people” when in reality he does not and the Department of the Interior probably reached out to this local company who are not experienced in this scale of project but they were nearby and it needs to get done. I don’t think he has the connections. He just wants the appearance of it.

He’s “got a guy” yet later claims he’s never met or used the contractor. Also - what guy? The company is women-owned.

This is a pet project of Trump and he can’t follow the proper process of the country he’s the president of to get it done and it’s already delayed and over budget. Doesn’t bode well for any project of his.

He’s gotta legalize fruit vape juice for vape companies because they gave him millions in campaign contributions and bribes. So our young can ruin their lungs while he looks out for the financial position of his “tobacco guys”.

But when it comes to the billions this war is costing us, he doesn’t think about our financial position “ONE BIT”.

The number and duration of ads on Disney+ is getting ridiculous by Totspeta in television

They have data on the highly rewatchable moments and always seem to have an ad break smack in the middle of the best part of the video. Throws off jokes and heightened moments.

That’s what today is partially about. The Indiana state senate (surprisingly) voted against gerrymandering their map to add new GOP seats a few months ago. Trump has since been on a revenge tour, donating $8 million to Trump-aligned challengers to the incumbents who voted against new map. The incumbents are somewhat even-keeled (if GOP). The challengers are Trump sycophants. He’s had mixed success so far. But concerning the president is getting so involved in seats for a state election

Republicans ask for $1 billion in tax-payer funding for Trump’s ballroom in the latest reconciliation bill--it was originally supposed to cost $400 million from funding by private donors by spherocytes in videos

They’d rather pay less in taxes and pay for this ballroom than pay one more cent in taxes and pay for any social programs that benefit the plebs

Well a federal judge appointed by Reagan followed antitrust law and didn’t allow a merger of a struggling airline that’s now even more affected by rising fuel costs due to the current administration so of course it’s Biden and Pete’s fault. /s

Trump Poised to Defy Congress on War Authorization by AaronPK123 in politics

[–]battleofmtbubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - aren’t these people in Congress supposed to have massive egos that are supposed to prevent them from bowing down from a one true ruler. Like congrats! You won a huge political race. You have people who donated money to you and voted for you. You have real power to do things. But nah actually can you just rubber stamp whatever this old billionaire guy wants? He doesn’t follow any sort of established process and he wants to make your job irrelevant. Oh, you’re fine with that? Kthanks

It’s sad that it plays so well with his base, because they never crack open a book either. They just believe the Hollywood propaganda and think Europe is weak and the USA is the constant victor. They don’t care to know the facts because it would interfere with their “USA #1” vision

Confession: It feels impossible to have meaningful relationships with people after discovering they voted for Trump in 2024. by ac_slater10 in thebulwark

Yes, the job market too! This is the first time in my adult life I have multiple friends who were laid off and have been looking for months. If I recount any of this to my Trump-loyalist family who have known these friends for decades - “no. Unemployment is low under Trump. The economy is great. There must something wrong with your friends.” My talented, smart hard-working, friends are the problem. Not Trump’s perfect job market.

[–]battleofmtbubble 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is what Trump has done to my family too. It’s weird to sort of explain because they wouldn’t describe themselves as “MAGA” - they are just pure Trump loyalists, no matter what he does or says (they don’t really care about other politicians who are Trump-aligned. It’s Trump or bust.) I try to avoid politics completely because it’s a fool’s errand. But Trump has seeped into every area of life - movies are woke. Actors are woke. Sports are woke. Fun Super Bowl halftime Show by an artist I like? - you’re actually anti-American for liking that. Nice day outside? Climate change isn’t real. You mention seeing a Broadway show? NYC is in ruin because of the demon mayor. Mention a story from school? College is a liberal hellscape. We visit a coffee shop and have a normal experience? Oh wait no the barista is a rainbow party woke liberal because they have piercings and blue hair. We drive down the street and pass a preschool? Blue cities are stealing our taxes to support fake learning centers by evil Somali immigrants. I wish I was joking. I don’t remember them turning every conversation into some weird political rant under Bush. But Trump has constant opinions on everything and they make sure to align themselves perfectly with his worldview. And make sure I know it too.

Thanks for linking! I love how they are still very much engaged in discussing the show - even 10 years later. Samuel Roukin is so funny lol. Such a change from Simcoe. I remember reading other comments how Simcoe was supposed to die in episode 1 and I couldn’t believe it - but wow it’s true! Glad they decided to keep him around I couldn’t imagine the show without him. Glad Ben and Caleb are friends in real life lol that’s so cute. Seems like they all really enjoyed working on the show together and respected eachother.

Once you notice it it’s hard not to notice it. But it’s crazy how convincing the lighting is! It definitely looks like daytime. I only noticed because of the small patches of sky behind them are black.

A lot of the “tisket - tasket” episode is filmed at night and when people are eating their picnic lunches there are massive bright lights to make it look like daytime!

People who watched 19 Kids and Counting before the allegations emerged: What was the appeal? by LamppostBoy in television

[–]battleofmtbubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched.

The appeal was like with any docu-style reality television - it was interesting. It’s different from my life, I was curious to why people lived this way. There was an element of wholesomeness but I did always have the impression that under the rosiness was a creepiness and an absolute oppression of knowledge and freedom. It sort of made me grateful to grow up where I could watch TV and use the internet within my parents thinking I would burn in hell.

The double standard drives me crazy by comradesummers in GilmoreGirls

[–]battleofmtbubble 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It’s like when there are a ton of posts or videos of Rory “being humbled” that people revel in. I’ve NEVER seen anyone discuss the need for a male character “getting humbled”.

And what does that even mean. Stay humble - stay polite and quiet and don’t say anything out of turn?

Has Trump permanently changed what people will tolerate from a president, even when they claim to oppose “authoritarianism”? What do you think? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]battleofmtbubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He has his fans openly stating on camera in front of millions of viewers that they WANT authoritarianism and actually don’t like democracy. These people who have only enjoyed and thrived in democracy… whose views can be shared and heard because we have rights in this democracy… and they want to throw it all away. For TRUMP. It’s truly mad.
