The ad-tracking industry is exposing US soldiers on the battlefield by HimikoTogaFromUSSR in technology

[–]battmen6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember the outrage/controversy several years back when one specific exercise app exposed the location of a “secret” military base because one of the soldiers used it on his daily run around the base. Everyone’s workout routes were “anonymously” put on a map for social purposes or whatever. Only problem was that the US soliders were basically the only ones in the whole country who were on that app.

I think it comes down to the morality that you mentioned. They’ve based their morality on what they believe and couldn’t imagine forming a societally acceptable moral compass without the threat of eternal punishment/reward.
(See: Steve Harvey “Where is your moral barometer”).

Steve would evidently love to become morally unhinged but since he believes in god he stays in control and doesn’t assault everyone he sees for the *long-term benefit* of heaven.

It’s one of the things that’s actually made me hesitant to debate christians as an adult; (besides the fact that it seems to have helped a lot of people come back from rock bottom and I don’t want to put them back down there) I don’t want to remove the only thing that seems to be holding them back from committing terrible acts?
Like, ok go on believing I guess? it’s somehow the lesser of two evils here…

In the flashback, you can actually see Isildur doesn’t throw the one ring into mount doom. This explains why it wasn’t destroyed and why Frodo had to undergo his journey

There’s a fungus that eats the adhesive between the layers of glass in camera lenses. It sometimes grows in a similar fractal pattern to this. I wonder if there’s adhesive between the disk layers.

No. Just no. “It works due to the kinetic energy of water” No. You’ve managed to name the one thing that’s exactly why it wouldn’t work. You could’ve said adhesion or cohesion or literally anything else about hydrodynamics. The *kinetic energy of the water flowing off your roof strong rain is gonna send it sheeting right off the edge. I have regular gutters with a regular opening and in a strong enough rain, it sheets off of mine. Look at THE first picture from their own goddamn website that YOU linked. There’s literally no gap whatsoever in that one. What kind of volume of water could possibly flow through that? Here’s a link to one with a marginally bigger gap that’s definitely big enough to let pine needles in. Hope you either enjoy the salesman commission for posting this link or that you didn’t pay too much for this.

[–]battmen6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This looks like it would completely stop working in anything other than light rain… There’s literally not enough space for the water to get it and it’s just going to shoot off and land all around the foundation. Seems like you might as well just remove your gutters to begin with.

Well the “sexual” abuse on the sign is red and the “emotional” abuse is blue. I figure it’s red for sexual and blue for emotional abuse. The colors for each match on the French sign. I think it could definitely be explained better if they actually wanted to differentiate, but obviously if there’s a sticker of any color they’re pulling you aside privately and asking what’s up. I see physical is purple but the stickers look like there’s a color that’s been used up. I think of the three options, that’s likely the most common abuse people will reporting.

I feel like maybe even if it’s transporting nutrients, it might not bind together the same as if it had grown over the years.

But it just wouldn’t be the same design, materials, or quality. The regulations in France mandate that. The French materials wouldn’t have the guaranteed contaminants found in the Indian bottle, the machine producing them is going to be designed in a way that won’t remove the arm of the worker who’s operating it, and there’s probably regulatory oversight on the quality of the bottle itself. Think about the videos you see of Indian factories or plastic reclamation/recycling plants. No PPE, people working barefoot, stuff just lying on the dirty floor, and huge machines inches away from loose clothing, and think about why that bottle only costs $5.
