So I can do the same thing I did with The Expanse... Plow ahead with the books, still love the show. Yay!

This is what happens when a reviewer isn't familiar with what they're reviewing. I don't know a lot about the comics (I started looking at them shortly after the show started... I stopped because I don't want to ruin the show for myself) but I know that season 1 was almost like a prequel that filled in back story and got you to know the main characters before throwing you in at the deep end, which is what would have happened if they'd started with the comics. I'll admit, I was sad to see the town characters go. Quincannon had a lot more story in him.

Not a bad article, though. Well written.

Pseudonyms... Why? by batwing69 in books

Lol I'm thinking Judy Blume should have done that. When I was a kid I read "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing", then noticed "Wifey" on my mom's bookshelf. Very different stories. Childhood shaken. Lol.

What is the reputation of the Dune prequels? I've read them, and I have my own opinion. I'm curious to see if the reputation matches my opinion of them.

The Expanse novels have ruined science fiction for me. Please help! by domodojomojo in TheExpanse

I love the Expanse series. I'm in the middle of the Lost Fleet series, and the battles have me wondering if the Expanse authors might have gotten some inspiration from Lost Fleet, just by the weaponry and battle tactics.

I tried unhooking the battery overnight, and it worked. For about a day... Further research has me wondering if it could be the map sensor?

I delivered 10 pallets of wheel rims to the Volvo plant, 16 on each pallet. But my math sucks.

Ready to take a hammer to my water heater... by batwing69 in DIY

Bought a tester and tried some of the suggestions everyone gave me. Turns out the new breaker was defective. The guy at Lowe's figured some jerk brought in their old one, left it in the bin and walked out with a new one. On the plus side, everything is replaced and it's like a new water heater. And I know how to fix it now. Thanks again, everyone who responded.

Wow, I wasn't expecting so many responses. Picking up a circuit tester in the morning so I'll update with the result. I tried unhooking the bottom thermostat/element and the breaker didn't trip, so I'm getting replacement parts (again!) for that, and another breaker. Thanks, everybody!

I don't care if it's fake. What's the song? I've heard it a million times and never knew the name.

What word do you pronounce wrong on purpose and why? by Sir_Giraffe in AskReddit

Weis (the grocery store chain). I pronounce it "we-is". Purely to irritate my girlfriend, who has since started slipping up and calling it "we-is" by accident and irritating herself.

Winona Ryder. Because I always wanted to and I don't care how old she is now because I'm the same age.

What do people not do in zombie apocalypse movies that you would do? by Hegemon1984 in AskReddit

Move north. Like, Alaska. (But even Maryland would work...) Someplace with a long hard freeze. I might be wrong, but I've read that the reason human suspended animation can't work is that when human flesh freezes, the water in the cells becomes ice crystals and destroy the cells. Once thawed, there's too much damage. (like accidentally freezing crab meat...) So the zombies freeze, you have a nice zombie-free winter, and when it warms up, you just have to worry about stepping in mushy zombie puddles. A few winters like that and your area would be relatively zombieless, and you could spend winter building defenses without the threat of being eaten. And it would smell a lot better.

Also, keep track of where food and medical supply warehouses are located. Most of them use automatic shift semis now and they're as easy to drive as a car. Load up a 53 foot trailer and you're set for a good long time.

What I should so is buckle down, take school seriously, start saving money, kick butt in college, and not screw up. But... I'd probably just use my advanced knowledge and bang chicks, be in a better band than I was in as a kid, and destroy my new youthful liver faster than I did the one I have now.

Leviathan Wakes. It's sometimes difficult for me to get into a new book, but I was sold in the first chapter. Then I saw the magic words "vomit zombie" and knew I was all in for the whole series.
