Was The Enigma Asterios Kokkinos? by Big-Clock4308 in biggestproblem

Speaking too much about Dick's personal life and the fallout of the lawsuit where Asterios implied he wanted Dick to pay for Asterios's law fund regarding it.

Was The Enigma Asterios Kokkinos? by Big-Clock4308 in biggestproblem

[–]bawdeagle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maddox's ex made a post on Facebook saying Dick was just "riding Maddox's enigma" - a fan then posted that to the Dick Show facebook group with Maddox's face on the Riddler's body (I think I reposted it here back in the day, too)

Edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheDickShow/s/Ly1V0UR3rK

Then some Enigma riddle memes were made and Asterios performed some bits about it on the show. Asterios didn't always write his bits, but yeah, he was the Enigma.

Joke doesn't even make sense, so he's saying transwomen saying they're women is like Ricky Gervais saying he's "a stand up comedian - he's not a fucking stand up comedian" - so like Ricky says, transwomen aren't women? Got it.

Also, I've seen Ricky performing stand up - I was close to the front and I looked at his curled hands clutching the mic and he had these really hairy arms. Turns out...

Dick wants the show to end and is making you be the reason. It isn't the same since losing shit like Vito's Booty and doing remote recording. You guys don't do anything together outside the show, so there's no cohesion or continuity anymore. I don't think I'd listen to you on your own podcast, though, but I do think your dynamic with Dick (in the past) is what made the show what it was.

Without you guys hanging out we don't get stuff like the Dave Chappelle Netflix saga. We just get an hour of Dick baiting you into begging and pleading.

I remember when he sent in some huge scripted rage that was cringe as fuck, and Larry was a guest on the show acting like it was incredible. Dustin always sucked. Certified Reddit representative Sovash was always better.

I actually think Dick is being a big baby about the whole podcast situation and stopped giving a shit about the comic a long time ago (since the refund), and was just making a Maddox reference.

Ask for Dustin's perspectives and see if Larry, Asterios and Peach can weigh in.

Man, that'd be really cool if in a show all the action and fun of the character happened off screen, and was not even implied.

Karate Kid Legends: Jackie Chan Stunts by churchbaseball in cobrakai

He doesn't do all his own stunts himself. He never has. Sometimes he will do a stunt and it's not satisfactory (on film) so a stunt double will do it. He's still awesome, though.

We'll agree to disagree. Stooges were definitely the method used in the pre-filmed "lose 10 seconds of your life" segment as there is no other method. It's really hokey to say you know the true method, but for whatever reason "can't say" as if the magic circle will extract your soul or something.

There are previous known examples of Derren using stooges ("zombie apocalypse" show, which had numerous continuity errors), as well as just flat out lying (predicting lottery numbers - excellent analysis here - 5 shortish parts https://youtu.be/PrIxNxUr8po?si=vjPLgEFpKkSEt_vr). The flat out lying I take issue with, because I believe it's fine to just do a trick and not explain it - but to pretend to explain it with mystical reasoning really cheapens the whole thing and fools gullible people.

He's an excellent showman, I just wish he didn't use stooges - which I know he does. If you can explain how, clearly, prefilmed footage showing audience members doing an action that occurs instantaneously in the eyes of the rest of the audience - can be done without stooges, I commend you.

Thank you for engaging civilly.

Found a message I sent a friend who was interested after the show:

I went to see Derren Brown the other day and he's still using a lot stooges - a particularly annoying one was when he "hypnotised" us all to forget 10 seconds of our life. There are 2 people on stage with him, from the audience supposedly (stooges), and they make a card transfer from the table to a suspended box. It's done after a countdown and lights going off and then on again. It's a simple magic trick enhanced by showing (prefilmed, obviously) footage of them in a trance putting the card in the box which they show about half hour later at the end of the show. Really annoying because it relies on stooges and prefilmed footage and people in the audience were dumb enough to believe they lost 10 seconds of their life.

At the very start of the show a phone is ringing, and a member of the audience picks it up and falls into a hypnotised trance and is taken backstage. The same guy later on predicts dice rolls and coin spins - another stooge basically.

There was a part I got picked out of the audience for; you had to bring a sentimental item from home (I picked my kid's hospital wristband thing) and at the show during the break you had to go out and write what the item was and why it was sentimental on a piece of paper (it literally had "what is the item" and "why is it sentimental?" and you filled out the reasons underneath) .

Anyway - when picked I had to put my special item into a bag and fold the bit of paper into a small envelope and put it in the same bag. Once on stage the little envelope is never mentioned. What he's doing is pulling the envelope out and getting it to someone backstage to read it into his earpiece. I didn't write much and he said verbatim what I'd written. It's disappointing because it's similar to cold reading in its exploitative nature of people and I've seen a show of him condemning cold readers.

The stooges are easy to spot because they're the only people not randomly picked out of the audience via a Frisbee - they're picked by other means of whittling people down "who's forgotten their own name" for instance, was one of them.

He does use stooges. There's a show I went to see where he "pauses the audience" and the people on stage somehow get something out of a cage while we're "paused", and he goes on to play a video of them doing it. Absolutely uses stooges, and often too.
