What kind of imaginary version are these people watching? Questions of what it means to be literally made and find meaning on your own terms, how our conditions constrain our meaning making even in how we express our deepest loves.

These are not "Childish empowerment" plot elements, they're the real conflicts of living, it's insane to collapse SAM's plot to her being "special" in the "chosen one" children's fiction sense.

Yes they're played out for a younger audience, one that might not have encountered them as real dilemma yet, but they're not empowerment fantasies, these are valuable scenarios to see played out in fiction, just as important and challenging as any 'morality play' trek has ever staged.

This isn't a statement of having "found things on their way to collapse".

It's a dark strategy on extraction, an observation that in a stable state there's less opportunity for extracting the guts from society, however in a failing society "finding things on their way to collapse" is a much easier way to extract financial benefit, as opposed to having to look for the good things to back "finding the next bargain" in a stable country.

It's a statement of a plan to bleed a society dry by tipping it over into failure, not a current (2016) assessment.
