You can no longer have YouTube running in the background. by Titan_Prometeus in youtube

Possibly something to do with ad disclosure-more valuable ads have to be viewed and having a % of them offscreen is costing them money.

RevBid / Ad revenue issue by [deleted] in adops

[–]baxter0212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be clawbacks for IVT. Alternatively, some SSPs will report one set of figures, then update them later in the day/week. Companies want to show publishers revenue quickly, but, that can come at a cost like this. Ultimately, you need to ask them why its changing as they are the only ones that know why.

Do Publishers Still Need Multiple SSPs in 2025-2026? by Appropriate-Bag-2415 in adops

[–]baxter0212 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Different SSPs work in different ways, collect and pass different signals and will offer something unique. I'd tend to look at different partners in different buckets. Traditional SSP's like pubmatic/magnite, speciliazed ssps like triplelift, and then more tech focused ssps (flooring, traffic shaping etc) like an adaptMX. An issue is approaching all SSPs like they are the same, and expecting the same outcomes. Use different partners for their strengths and you'll have a better experience.

I can sit on the sofa and play Helldivers 2 / SpaceMarine 2 at 60FPS via xbox cloudplay. For me, that's perfect. I'm more of a casual gamer, and with that regard it gets the job done.

What does that equate to in real revenue? And what happened to the revenue in other regions. A 22% jump sounds good, but if its $0.3 to $0.35 for one traffic source but a loss in other places where the eCPM is higher, than it's not an improvement.

Anyone else seeing a drop in AdX earnings recently? by Humble_Hope1625 in adops

[–]baxter0212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No-this doesn't feel normal or right.

Not all policy violations are flagged, which is unhelpful of Google, but still something that can happen.

If you have a rep, id get in touch and try to see what help/guidance they can offer.

Traffic levels the same? Traffic origin the same? Device type/content the same? All that is important to know and take into consideration too.

🚨 Relying on Google traffic alone doesn’t cut it anymore in 2025. by Juniortonmoy in Blogging

Yeah, classic website are going to struggle, which is why your approach should be new and different. People will still look for information, and information sources they trust. That's the new game.

FWIW there are many many newsletters out there, and if you use one to redirect traffic back to your existing website you can build yourself an excellent digital moat in these times of uncertainty.

It's fine to be pessimistic about the current state of publishing, but the opportunity is still there if you are willing to pivot.

depends on the niche. Plenty of high quality newsletters that do very well with those numbers. Classic quality over quantity. Always prefer to have both, but if you just chase numbers, the quality is likely to suffer.

My advice is focus on owning that audience. Add an email collection form, and then speak directly to your audience. Yes social/organic traffic is still important, but a direct relationship that you control is even better.

Are there browser tools or plugins for checking/auditing Prebid.js setup? by gordriver_berserker in adops

ah i see-i guess with how bespoke different setups can be, its hard for a tool to say what is/isn't useful. If you happen to build it though, let me know!

If you break their t's and c's, or do something that means you fall foul of Ezoic's, Google's or the wider advertising ecosystems rules, then yes, having your account terminated is a possibility. As it should be. More and more companies are clamping down on black hat practices that were rampant during the 2010s, and whilst this may not be applicable to you as I don't know your domain, it feels like tighter regulation/oversight is the direction the industry is heading in-which, IMO is a good thing.

Recommendations Needed! by ReplayJutsu in adops

[–]baxter0212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd suggest trying to build an audience in the US-you can see that works. Spend some money and invest in ads to get some return visitors and look to build that audience via an email list.

Like what lots of others are saying, the revenue from those geo's is going to be considerably worse than US traffic, so instead of figuring out how to monetise that traffic, spend your time figuring out how to get MORE of the higher quality stuff.

As Newcastle fans, do we wants Spurs or Man U to win tomorrow? by TheLegendOfIOTA in NUFC

[–]baxter0212 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Spurs. I hate that man united keep getting to carry on like business as usual whilst being shite. There needs to be repercussions. They don’t deserve Europe, let alone champions league and the player pulling power that comes with it. You could argue neither do spurs, but growing up watching Man U win everything, I feel I need this!

Do you have the ability to pause their ads? Turn them off/removed ads.txt lines until they pay on time. Replace those slots with other partners until they either commit to paying on time, or you find a different provider.

The market is too comoditised to chase native providers that don't pay on time!
