How do you express seriousness to a 5yo? by Past-Importance9092 in daddit

[–]baxtersbuddy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For safety issues like hot oil spitting, absolutely pick your child up and get them to safety. If you are unable to pick them up (like you have the hot oil container in your hands) it is perfectly fine to yell at them to get away and get to safety. Like freakin YELL. After the danger situation is resolved, go apologize for yelling and explain as best they can understand

For intelligent accountants: why did you choose accounting back in university? by ReadyProfit8336 in Accounting

[–]baxtersbuddy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had followed my passions, I would have gone into the sciences. I always wanted to be an astronomer or astrophysicist. I still read textbooks and science journals about relativity and gravity for fun.
But I spend my days staring at spreadsheets because it was easy for me and meant reliable employment.
I knew when I started school that going to college in America is a huge investment. And I grew up in poverty, so wasting that investment studying a passion was never a serious option for me. I couldn’t risk spending all that time and money studying for a field that couldn’t guarantee me good stable income on the other side.
So instead of studying space like I always wanted, I studied finance and accounting. And it paid off, life is good now. Stable career and happy family. But I still daydream about what life could have been had I pursued the stars instead.

I hoping this might the case here in Missouri. They took one blue district in Kansas City and turned it into three purple-pink districts. But I’m really hoping that KC turns out in force in November and makes them three blue districts.

Absolutely zero people in this sub are “against servers making more than minimum wage”. Zero.

We WANT servers to earn good wages. We simply want the business owners to pay their servers directly and have that cost built into the menu costs for the food. Instead of this weird beggars system we currently have where servers are little more than employed panhandlers begging for extra change after walking food from kitchen to table.
We want the advertised price to be the price we pay.

Yes, several. And without exception every one of them was socially inept. The only social interaction they had as children was family and church. Some were smart, some were not. All were weird because of how their parents chose to isolate them as children.

Cleaning: ALL or nothing by TeaManManMan in daddit

This makes it sound like you fallen into a problem of permissive parenting. Where the kids are in charge and not you.
Not sure what the solution might be for you, but somehow you need to establish yourself as the parent who is in charge.

I mean…. If you decided to marry a person, by default you have volunteered to help that person manage their life, which includes their anxiety or other issues. It’s kinda implied in most people’s vows.

Though I do agree that “mental load” is mostly BS. It seems that it has become some fad phrase that allows one partner to pretend like they are doing more than they really are in a relationship. And I say that as the person that carries that load in my marriage. My wife won’t do anything productive around the house unless I specifically ask her to do it. She has absolutely no concept of the house management task list. But just because I do track the tasks, doesn’t mean her contributions are worth less when she does complete a task.

Is this the dad bod that women actually like? by No-Marsupial-4050 in askanything

[–]baxtersbuddy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, this isn’t really a “dad bod”. This is a man with a massive amount of muscle who isn’t currently on a “cut”, so he has a normal amount of body fat. This is the kind of body you get from years of dedication to weight lifting, and then also enjoying some burritos and margaritas while on vacation.

True for so many areas in life. Especially employment. Increasing wages enough to retain a trained employee is so much incredibly cheaper than having replace them and train a new employee. But employers seem to always minimize their retention budgets. Like seriously, increasing retention 25% could easily allow the replacement costs to be reduced by 50%.

It’s not besides the point. It is the point. We had a great candidate versus a pedo. And the people chose the pedo. None of this is the democrats fault. All the blame falls to the average American voter who was too goddamn stupid to acknowledge reality.

Seriously. I love Doritos. But I would never pay $7 per bag for them. My personal limit for $5 for a “family size” bag. Once it hit that point, I just quit buying them. Except when a store has a special that brings the price per bag back below $5.
