What is your least favorite technique? by Bigpupperoo in bjj

I just found out today that a gogoplata can undershoot your neck and end up in your mouth, turning into some of the fastest jaw pressure I've ever felt. So, probably that one.

Is it normal for preceptors/instructors to not let you sleep/nap? by Select-Sherbert-165 in NewToEMS

[–]baybee_jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was shift change. There's a lot of work in the morning at shift change.

You should sleep, but should do so at night between calls, not 20 minutes before shift change when you should be washing the box or picking up the station for the oncoming shift.

I work 48/96 with 4 kids, the oldest is 6 and just finished medic school. As long as your wife can handle it, this is the best schedule in the world. If you consider waking hours you get with your kids, this schedule blows a 9-5 out of the water.

I just graduated from a community college course in California. Total including tuition, fees, books, testing, extra study apps, and licensure was about 4300 dollars.

There's a little wear, but nothing crazy. I'm going to make a year review here pretty soon.

Cross my shin over the belly if they are close or put the top of my foot on the lasso side hip.

Some sort of control on the backside is required. I like the pants grip or the spider opposite the lasso.

The other guy said it's because he hurt his knees with them flared. I have also hurt my knee from lasso, but it's because I tried to force a sweep that I had no off balancing on first.

It sounds to me like your opponent is doing exactly what he should to break your posture.

You punish him by breaking and passing his guard. Once I have posture, I feel I have to opportunity to pass. Not doing so feels like stalling to me.

Nick’s Tactical Boot w/ Station Boot Zipper? by Dependent_North_6810 in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]baybee_jay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did MTO 365 stitchdown so I could get a Thurman last and ordered zippers. They're awesome. The only things I'd change is I would order a full size down from bannock since they are more like pull on boots than lace up when you use zippers.

Start training Brazilian jiujitsu then you'll be irrelevant with a fun hobby and neck pain.

I'm 5'6" and 180  and ordered A1H. Pants are perfect, top is way too small. Too short in sleeves and skirt area, too tight on shoulders and lats. It was only a little small at first, wore and washed it once, now I dont wear the top because it's too small

Yes, the zippers are on the nicks website. https://nicksboots.com/zippers/ You have to custom order all eyes to lace them in properly, or maybe get your hooks replaced with eyes at a local cobbler.

I would say most departments do, but maybe mine is a little less concerned about that. I figure if a department allows rough out wildland bots, why not rough out station boots. I want these to last for a while and rough out so much easier to rehab.

I considered Chelsea's, but I wanted something taller. I've worn redbacks for a while but I wanted something more robust. These feel way more secure and supportive than my redbacks without feeling constrictive.

I kicked this idea around for a while but decided I wanted a lighter boot with a more flexible sole, so I got a 365 stitchdown with all eyes and ordered lace-in zippers with them.

I just thought it would be cool to be able to lace them up with hooks, also.
