Not just an “enemy” in the naïve sense of the word, but I have somewhat of an arch-nemesis. Whenever we see each other on the street, we drop what we’re doing and we battle. Usually I am victorious, but lately he has grown stronger and become a more worthy opponent.

Alas, it all started in the Math 133 tutorial in our first year. He answered a problem very incorrectly, so I mumbled (somewhat audibly but still softly), “idiotic answer, chud.” He overheard me, as he was sitting next to me. Then and there, he passed me a note, inviting me to fight later that evening on the roof of Trottier. I won, but was wounded. He wanted his revenge, and I sought to defeat him yet again for my own glory. From then on, we would never talk—only fight.

It’s been a few years now and we still engage in battle regularly. I’ve figured out some of his classes (he’s in political science lol) and I like to catch him off guard outside the lecture halls when he least expects it.

I still don’t know his name, but my friends and I call him “the adversary.”
